<br />Case # 3 <br /> <br />MEMO <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />November 22, 2006 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Economic Development Authority (EDA) <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Staff Update <br /> <br />New Business Prospects: <br /> <br />Cullinan Rigging - Staff made contact with the owner and the business still plans to <br />locate in Ramsey. Construction of McKinley Street and the Extension of Ebony Street <br />is completed making the site much more marketable. <br /> <br />Minnesota Waterjet- The City Council Approved the TIF Assistance package for this <br />project on July 11, 2006. A site plan was approved at the September 26th City Council <br />Meeting. Closing for the land will occur in early December and the site preparation work <br />should be in prior to the snow flying. <br /> <br />Light manufacturer - Staff received an inquiry form the State of Minnesota regarding a <br />business based in Florida looking to move to the region. Staff provided information to <br />the State of Minnesota and a tour of some sites in Ramsey was given. The business <br />(confidential) was pleased with Ramsey _.and has contacted Staff for additional <br />information. The project would be 72,000 Square Feet. Staff met with the <br />aforementioned company on Thursday, October 12, 2006. A City tour was conducted <br />and Lot 4, Block 1, Sunfish Lake Business Park 2nd Addition was shown to the.business. <br />The site is a bit large for the initial construction size of 72,000 but it would allow for the <br />business to expand at some point. Staff contacted the company on Noyember 10th and <br />they have yet to make a decision on the preferred site. <br /> <br />Business Grand Openin2s:. Minks Custom Homes had its grand opening on November 16th <br />from 4PM to 8 PM. The Mayor, Council member Jeffrey, and EDA Member Steffen and <br />Schindel were in attendance for the ribbon cutting. <br /> <br />Business Communication Initiatives: A business connection meeting is tentatively set up for <br />February/March of2007. <br /> <br />Community Revitalization Proiects <br /> <br />6030 Bunker Lake Boulevard NW: - The sale of Zero-Zone is complete and negotiations have <br />resumed. City Council approved the sale of the expansion property to Zero~Zone for $440,000. <br />Staff is working with the City Attorney to have a purchase agreement drawn up and to set a <br />closing date sometime in December. <br /> <br />16 <br />
