I did 2 soil borings in areas
that were depicted as original jurisdictional wetland, out side of the flags I placed. I
saw no evidence of fill being placed within the original wetland boundary.
I would suspect this small basin has been altered by the change in runoff hydrology. This
basin was historically surface water fed, but now with the developed landscape much of the
runoff is being directed to other areas.
There is no WCA violation on this site. Much of that basin will still function as a Type
1 temporarily flooded wetland.
This could be an opportunity for the home owner to enhance this basin by planting wetland
native grasses and flowers while maintaining against invasive species.
Let me know if you have nay questions.
Dennis
Dennis Rodacker
Wetland Specialist /PSS #44998
Anoka Conservation District
16015 Central Ave NE Suite 103
Ham Lake, MN 55304
763 - 434 - 2030 x14
dennis.rodacker @anokaswcd.org
www.AnokaNaturalResources.com
-260-
1
