She was diagnosed last summer as having neuroblastoma, a cancer <br />of the nervous system. <br />Now Rachel's 5-year-old sister, Krista, has the opportunity to give the <br />toddler what she has wished for - a new life. <br />Rachel's cancer is in remission now. Time is the most important factor - <br />the bone marrow transplant must be done while the neuroblastoma is in re- <br />mission. <br />The transplant, which would be done at the University of Mn., is con- <br />sidered experimental and the insurance company refuses to cover experi- <br />mental procedures. The University requires a prepayment of $100,000 for <br />the operation which is expected to cost over $200,000. <br />For Rachel's mother the treatment would mean going back home to Mpls., <br />"I left in 1969," She said, "I/hat a way to go back." <br />Donations for the Escala.bre fa.ily .ay be sent to Rachel's Fund. <br />c/o Union Bank, Post Office Box 21580.
