HAPPENINGS RAMSEY RANGER'S Join the Ramsey Rangers just for the fun ot it! The Rangers were founded 18 years ago as a learning and fun club for the whole family. Many children have and are learning to ride at ages two years and up. The club has a special class for these young riders called Lead Line, with parents and club members helping these little tots learn to love horses and also teach them the proper way to ride. Many times we have had families become in- volved in the club because of the childrens desire to have and ride horses, but when mom and dad come to the shows and see some of us old fuddy duddys out there still competing and having a good time they are ready to put on the old blue jeans and join in. There are basic riding rules in the club but we feel that we are unique because every- thing is centered around learning and enjoying ANOKA CHRISTIAN WOMEN'S CLUB The Anoka County Christian Women's Club meets on the first Thursday of each month for brunch. LIONS . . . rather than a strict adherance to the rules, with the benefit of the doubt always going to the young riders. Monthly club meetings are held the first Thursday of every month at Ramsey Elementary School at 7:30 p.m.. It is at these meetings you will be able to join the club. Our. club membership dues and fees are also family oriented! Our family membership dues for the year are only $10.00, with a single membership costing only $5.00 and you can ride every event in one of our horse shows for only $2.00. In our 1983 season, there will be six fun shows, also planned are a spring and fall trail ride. The Mother Earth Chapters are set up for groups of people that are interested in small homesteads, do-it yourself projects, gardening self sufficiency, barter, helping each other, doing things for the community, etc. The group shares ideas, knowledge, skills, etc. so all can learn to do more for themselves. There would be meetings once or twice a month for two or three hours. Cost would be less that $2.00 a month and could be free. Robbinsdale has a chapter (chapter 5) that has been going strong for nearly two years., The benefits are many and their group is growing. A minimum of 15 people or families will be needed to start a local chapter. Interested persons can call Bob Sanders 427-7263 for more information and to proclaim their inter- est. Bob Yentsch-Secretary, Dave Bawden-Tresurer As most of you are aware the Lions Club sponsors several fund raising events each year and uses the profits to help needy residents and pro- vide financial and labor assistance for community projects. Two of the Lions priorities are eyesight and hearing. On Saturday, April 2nd our club will be sponsoring a car wash at the City Hall from lOam - 4pm. The proceeds from this project will be used to support the Lions 5M International Hearing Center located at the University of Minnesota, the Minn. Lions Eyebank and the Childrens Eye Clinic. I would like to remind you to watch the Lions telethon on KSTP-TV, Channel 5, March 19th and 20th. There will be performances by Shari Lewis, Bob McGrath and many other national stars. Other up-coming activities of the Ramsey Lions are a Bingo nite for the residents of Maple M&nor Nursing Home on February 9th and a Mystery nite on March 5th. Duties consist of scheduling the coaches meeting, dispensing equipment and working on the tournament. Any interested parent is asked to call Jack Beissel at 753-1041. Mark your calendar - - Annual Pancake Breakfast will be March 27, 1983. You may re- gister for baseball, girl's softball, boy's softball and soccer at the breakfast in the lower level of City Hall. Believe it or not-- Some 9th grade baseball uniforms were not returned after the season ended last summer. Please call Ted Rouse if you have a uniform and he will pick it up. Ted's number is 421-2808. On January 30th, the RYA8 elected a new slate of officers. Their term of office is one year.
