HAPPENINGS. RYAA LIONS MEETING For the past three years, the Ram- sey Youth Athletic Association (RYAA) has been funding and staffing pro- grams in soccer, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball and football for grades K-IO. These programs are run solely on volunteer labor. No funds are pro- vided by the City of Ramsey. The en- tire cost of the program is borne by the registration fees and fundraisers that the children and their parents work very hard at. A lot more input is needed from the parents of the children who partici- pate. The original people who foun- ded RYAA have children growing out of these youth programs. If these programs will be here when your children need them, your help is man- datory. The number of children par- ticipating rises every year. If the quality of these programs is to im- prove then your help is needed now. On January 30th the RYAA will elect a new Board of (Officers. The meeting will be held at the Ramsey Ci ty Hall at 7pm.. You may decline to run for any office or you may run for any office you desire. Your opinions and comments at this meet- ing would be appreciated. REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED --Jack Beissel JOB SEMINAR The Men's Club from Lord of Life Church here in Ramsey, will sponsor a job's seminar at the Church, Sat. Feb, 19th from 9am to 12pm.. This seminar will provide people who are looking for work with information on related subjects such as developing a resume, and interviewing techniques A question and answer session will be included. This seminar is open to the public. Lord of Life Church is near the intel section of Nowthen Blvd and Sunfish Lake Blvd. For more information, call 427-8630. -- Roger Larson L lr 1 t t t t t t t DEL'S PIZZA . . Since this is the first publica- tion of the Ramsey Resident we felt this a good opportunity to inform the community about the Ramsey Lions Club. The Lions are a community service organization which raises funds to help finance community projects or help the less fortunate people in our community. The Ramsey Lions were chartered with the International Lions in the fall of 1972. At present there are 29 active membe rs . The Ramsey Lions are active with- in our community and have made many contributions to the community. They have purchased and installed all the playground equipment at the Ramsey School, camera equipment for the Ramsey Police Dept., a hearing tes- ting machine for the Ramsey School and purchased and installed the com- munity sign located in front of City Hall. They have also made contribu- tions to RYAA and the Anoka Ice Arena. They are the sponsor of the Cub Scout and Brownie Troops in our City. They have annually constructed and ran the fun house at the Commu- nity School Halloween party, con- ducted bicycle safety checks, enter- tained the elderly at the nursing homes in Anoka and helped individuals or families within the City. The Ramsey Lions Club meets the first and third Wed. of each month at 7:00pm. at Jimmy 'B's. If you are interested in joining, feel free to attend one of our meetings. CHARTER NIGHT BANQUET IN THE ANOKA UNION. --Jeff Johnson SENIORS Senior Citizen's from Ramsey met Dec. 14th at the Ramsey City Hall. This was the first organizational meeting with 15 people attending. Florence(Stull, President of Anoka Senior Citizens was present to help with forming this new club. Mary Lou Gorski was also of help. At -noon on January 12th we in- cluded a potluck dinner with our meeting. The next meeting will be held on February 2nd at 1: 30 pm.. Everyone 55 years of age and older is wel- come to attend. For further ih- formation, call 421-5143. --Blanche Titterud SNOW-RAMS For those of you who may not know, Ramsey does have an active snowmobile club. Our meetings are held at Jimmy , B' s American the firs t Mon. of the month at 7: 30 pm.. A snowmobile safety course was held in Dec. by our certified instructors through the Community School program. It included classroom training as well as an actual driving test on a snowmobile. There were 55 students enrolled. The course was open to all who were 12 years old by Jan. 1st, so they may legally operate a snowmobile upon passing the test and obtaining their certificate from the state. The club has also volunteered to act as an emergency snow patrol in Ramsey. During the storm of Dec. 28th one of our volunteers was dis-. patched on a call placed through the Ramsey Police Dept. The Snow-Rams hold events and snowmobile rides throughout the year. Our annual club f~ily weekend will be the last weekend in January. New members are always welcome.
