' '. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Advisor~ Cogneil Formed <br /> <br />On October 28th, 1976 the R<:Imsey Community School <br />Advisory Council was formed. This is a group of residents from <br />Ramsey, who on a volunteer ba~is mllet regularily to help the <br />Community School Coordinator and Principal with decisions and <br />problems that pertain to our community and school. This council <br />does double duty for the Community Scl1QorCiQd the ElementarY <br />School. <br />Listed below are a few of the duties of the council- <br />*To develop a positive and cooperCitive community <br />"togetherness" in Ramsey. <br />*To offer programs and services that will fill the needs of <br />every resident. .' <br />*To expand and improve on youth and adult educCition. <br />*To collect information relative to the betterment of school <br />facilities, park areas, play ground and equipment. <br />*To build and broaden support for community sehgal, <br />*And lastly- To be available to all the people of Ramsey, to <br />, hear your jqeas, to listen to your compli:!ints,and to help You <br />make'YOUR Community School worl<.' , <br /> <br />The Community School is a very unique pQncept in education. <br />It provides the use of the public school and its equipmen1 for the <br />needs of the community, It is g plape tQ have meetings, hold fund <br />raisers, to have functions swch as Family Fwn Day, Movie Nights, <br />or a Brunch with Santa. <br />It has programs and classes for young and old and is used all <br />the time, year around for the benefit of the people in our prea. <br />The fees charged for these classes pre used 19 pay for community <br />education teachers salaries and supplies. There is no profit made. <br />And you must admit, the fees <:Ire very reasonabl&. <br />Up until this point, our Community School has hac:l a <br />parHirne coordinatqr. We will be a full-time Community School <br />in the fall. This will enable us to offer more programs, <br />opportunities and services for all residents. Your interest will help <br />assu're th<:lt. <br />Our Community $chool needs the help and support of all of <br />you. The Advisory Council has 12 very active and concerned <br />citizens as members. We want to know what you like and don't <br />like. We have listed our names and phone numbers, please feel <br />free to call any of us with your questions and ideas. If you have a <br />talent you would like to share, let us know. It is really easy to be <br />a community educator and is very gratifying. <br />We will be keeping you informed of our activities through the <br />Ramsey Newsletter and periodic bulletins. Our meeting date is <br />the' 1st Thursday of the month at 7:()0 p.m.'at Ramsey School. If <br />there are any teens in Ramsey that would like to join the Teen <br />Board please call the Community School office at 427-9350. The <br />Teen Board meets every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Ramsey School. <br />The Teen Board is planning ski trips, fund raisers, camping trips <br />and many other fun activities. <br />
