~ MOTORCYCLE CONCERNS

Due to the steadily increasing number, of
complaints from citizens concerning the
operation of motorcycles, minibikes, all-terrain
vehicles, etc. in the ditches and along the
shoulders of the roads in the city, it will be
necessary to increase enforcement of Minnesota
Statute 169.18, Subdivision 1 which allows
vehicle traffic only on the right hand portion of
the roadway. The roadway is defined as that
portion of the highway normally used for
vehicular traffic. In other words, it is illegal to
operate a motor vehicle along the shoulder of
the highway or anywhere from the road edge to
the outer limits of the right-of-way. Vehicles
being operated in violation of this statute will be
stopped and the operator tagged. If circum-
stances warrant it, the vehicle will be towed
from the scene and taken to a police impound
lot.

Attention has been called to this illegal
operation of motor vehicles by careless, loud and
unreasonable operation of drivers who apparently
have no respect for life or property, even after
repeated pleas by the police and general
citizenry for moderation. One does not have to
drive very far in the City of Ramsey to observe
the damage and erosion to streets and driveways.
This damage, coupled with the complaints of
noise caused by unmuffled or inadequa tely
muffled machines, has led to this notice.

Mike Auspos, Chief
. Ramsey Police

OLD RAMSEY SCHOOL
Historical Site

~.'~~
tJil~;r.
>.. -~~
--.J ~
.=-:~

The Anoka County Historical Society received
custody and supervision of the site known as
Ramsey School (District #28) on March 7, 1978.
Because of the interest of club members, North
Star Federated Womans Club has agreed to
support the Historical Society in restoring the
site to a living museum.

In April, 1978, North Star Feder~ted Womans
Club presented the Ra.msey School Committee
with a $300 contribution to begin their support.
In May, 1978, North Star began interviewing
former students of Ramsey School. The Club is
currently reading micro-filmed newspapers 'of
Anoka County looking for leads and evidence
regarding Ramsey School.

In November of 1978, North Star staged its
annual luncheon and style show. $350, the
proceeds from "Kloset Keepsakes", a review of
styles from the past' ten decades, went to
funding the restoration.

It is an exciting project of which you may be a
part. Do you have old pictures, school papers or
other memorabelia pertaining to Ramsey School?
If so, please contact the Anoka County
Historical Socity at 421-0600, Maxine Larson at
424-6750, or Bonnie Anderson, North Star
project chairman at 421-3265.

RAMSEY JAYCEES

The Ramsey Jaycees would like to take this
opportunity to' invite any young men in Ramsey
to come meet with and learn more about the
Ramsey Jaycees.
This year the Ramsey Jaycees are planning one
of their most productive years. This can only be
accomplished by having an active and
enthusiastic group of young men who ar"e
interested in community and i personal develop-
ment.

Some of our community projects this year will be
a Ramsey Clean-up Day, Crime Watch, Family
First Aid and CPR. Individual development
programs include family awareness, financial
planning and personal dynamics. We also have a
guest speaker on a different subject at every
second monthly meeting.
These are only a few of our programs and
projects. We are actively soliciting more ideas
along the lines of personal or community
improvement.
