<br />SNOWMOB ILER'S <br /> <br />Operation of snowmobiles is regulated in the City of Ramsey. <br />The City has adopted by Reference Minnesota State Statutes <br />Sections 84.81,84.82,84.83,84.84,84.85,84.86,84.87,84.871 <br />and 84.8]2, 84.88 and 84.89. <br />Operation on streets and highways. No person shall operate a <br />snowmobile upon the roadway, shoulder, or inside bank or slope <br />of any trunk, county state, aid or couhty hig-.way in this state and <br />in the case of a divided truck or county highway, on the rig-.t of <br />way between the oppossing lanes of traffic and further no person <br />shall operate a snowmobile within the rig-.t of way of any trunk, <br />county state aid, or county highway between the hours of'% hour <br />after sunset and % hour before sunrise, except on the ri91t hand <br />side of such right of way and in the same direction as the hig-.way <br />traffic on the nearest lane of the roadway adjacent thereto. No <br />snowmobile shall be operated at any time within the right of way <br />of any interstate hi91way or freeway within the state. <br />A snowmobile may make a direct crossing of a street or <br />hig-.way at any hour of the day provided. <br />* The crossing is made at an angle of approximately 90 <br />degrees to the direction of the hig-.way and at a place where <br />no obstruction prevents a quick and safe crossing; and <br />* The snowmobile is brought to a complete stop before <br />crossing the shoulder or main traveled way of the hig-.way; <br />and <br />* The driver yields the right of way to all oncoming traffic <br />which constitutes an immediate hazard; and <br />* In crossing a divided hi91way, the crossing is made only at <br />an intersection of such hi91way with another public street <br />or hi91way; and <br /> <br />REGULATIONS <br /> <br />* If the crossing is made between the hours. of % hour after <br />sunset and % hour before sunrise or in conditions of reduced <br />visibility, only if both front and rearlig-.ts are on; and <br />No snowmobile shall be operated upon a public street or hi91way <br />unless equipped with at least one headlamp, one tail lamp, each <br />of minimum candle power as prescribed by regulations of the <br />commissioner, reflector material of a minimum area of sixteen <br />square inches mounted on each side forward of the handle bars, <br />with brakes each of which shall conform to standards prescribed <br />by rule of the commissioner pursuant to authority vested in him <br />by section 84.86 and each of which shall be subject to approval <br />of the commission of public safety. <br />Any sled, trailer or other device being towed by a snowmobile <br />must be equipped with reflective material as required by rule and <br />regulation of the commissioner. <br />It is unlawful for any person to drive or operate any <br />snowmobile in an unsafe or harassing way. <br />Please note that the above is only a portion of the rules and <br />regulations. Please also make special note that it is unlawful for <br />persons to operate a recreation motor vehicle on lands not,hjs, <br />own, except where otherwise allowed by law, wi1hout 1he written <br />or oral permission of the owner or occupant, or lessee of such <br />lands. ' <br /> <br />OPEN BURNING <br />is banned unless. . . <br />Open burning is prohibited unless a person has diseased trees <br />and can burn 600 feet from structures other than their own. If <br />you can meet this criteria and desire to burn the diseased trees <br />you may apply for a buming permit by calling either Wilbur <br />Chapman 421-5761 or Mike Haller 421-9475, State Fire Wardens. <br />Note that the burning permit must be obtained first before any <br />burning is conducted. Any other materials must be disposed of by <br />taking to'the dumpor burying, etc. <br /> <br />Dog Control <br /> <br />Dog control is very important. We just cannot emphasize <br />enough the importance of keeping your animals under control. <br />We continuously receive complaints on dogs running loose or <br />uncared for. Not only is it an unnecessary inconvenience and <br />nuisance to your neighbors, but it is costly for animal control <br />expense that the City must pay and tax homeowners for.
