Ramsey is scheduled to be sewered with metropolitan
sewer service by the CAB interceptor. CAB is a major line serving Ramsey as well as parts
of Anoka, Champlin and Brooklyn Park. The present projection from the Metropolitan Waste
Control Commission is that this line will be in construction in 1981; however, it is the
Cityls feeling that, this state is unrealistic since the engineering design has not started
yet. Ramsey desires two outlets from this interceptor; one would be near Highway 10 at the
Ci ty I S East boundary and the ather near Highway 47 at the City 's Southeast boundary. The
City Council has in the past and will continue to make every effort to insure that the lines
are not constructed anywhere in the City until it is absolutely necessary and in certain areas
it is projected that sewers'ervicemay never be needed. It is the Council's position at this
time that after placement of the CAB interceptor the construction of the Ramsey internal
collection system will only be done upon demand for development and/or by demonstrated needs
due to health and environment reasons. It is the intent of the Council's Url?an Planning
to have the proposea commercial development locate. in the Southeastern area, to initiate the
internal system; thereby adding to the tax base and relieving capital improvements cost to
residential taxpayers. The City feels that with proper density controls combined with ade-
quateoperation and maintenance programs for individual on-site septic systems the environment
can be protected and these systems will be as effective as metro sewage treatment facilities.
It should be noted that Ramsey's past plannfng efforts have delayed the necessity of sewer
service to the City when other communities in the northern developing fringe areas are already
receiving sewer service because of inadequate density and planning controls. Ramsey will be
in a very enviable position in that sanitary sewer servi~e would be available for areas of
demcmstrated, need; but can control the destiny and placement of the sewer pipes within the City
by demonstrating a local program can adequately preserve the character and rural nature of the
City allowing on-site septic systems. If anyone has specific questions about sewer service in
their area please contact Phil Nereson at City Hall.

---------------------~-------------------------------------------'-------------------------------

NOTICE TO HOMEOWNERS & CONTRACTORS
The City has a licensing ordinance which is now
being rigidly enforced and all contractors and
homeowners contracting work or tradesmen should
be aware that before inspections will be made
on any construction projects the necessary
licenses will have to be on file at City Hall.
Listed below are the trades anrl businesses for
whi chli-censes are required.,

Motor Vehicl~ Sales, Rental and Repair;
~ntractors \all); Bowl ing All eys; Bill i ards;
Clg~rette Sales; Music Festivals; Gas Sales

WANTED - VOLUNTEERS for Ramsey Park &
Recreation Commission.
