RAMSEY PLANNING ACTIVITIES

The Ramsey City Council and Planning Commission are in the process of-reviewing implementing
ordinances for the adoption of the Ramsey Urban Study Area. These, ordinances include the
foll owi ng:

1. proposed zoning ordinance
2. proposed soils ordinance
3. proposed septic system ordinance
4. proposed amendments to the Urban Area Study Report.
5. proposed septic systems maintenance program

The Ramsey staff, City Council, and Planning COlTlTlission have broken into sub-colTlTlittees to
review each ordinance and make recommendations for adoption. The proposed new regulations
are drafted so as to allow only deve1~pment which will be consistent with the City plan and
environmentally safe. They also propose that the City function as administrator over exis-
ting and new on-site septic systems to insure their operation is protective of the health and
safety of all Ramsey residents. After the'sub-committees have made all of their reconmendations
and appropriate changes are made, public hearings on all ordinances will be held sometime in
June or July prior to their adoption.

With the Southeastern corner of the City being in the Urban Service Area special provisions
have been made which will guide the development in this area. To do this proposed zoning
changes are made for the 4.4'square mile Urban Service Area and landowners in the Urban Area
should contact the City Hall to review these changes and what possible affect they might have
on development.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are justa couple of the activities that are available for the Rams~y area youth at
Ramsey Community School. These programs provide recreational and enrichment activities for
pre-schoolers through teens after the regular day school program.

Pictured on the left is Sue Matt demonstrating and instructing K-3 graders in gymnastics. On
the right is Sandy Rahn giving instructions in her "Crafts for Kids" class. If you need any
information on any Community School Activities, please call the Ramsey Conmunity School at
427-9350.
