...

.

- 3 -

Forty-six degrees makes you think about planting trees. Let's get busy
and plant trees so that when most of our elms and red oaks are gone
(which it is predicted they will be), we will still have some trees and
shade to enjoy. Country without trees isn't much fun.

Ramsey Park Board has started making plans for this spring. They will
be placing playground equipment in several area parks with a major park
ready by next fall adjacent to the new school. The 'equipment for this
park will be furnished by the Ramsey Lions Club. They have had several
money-making projects to raise money for this purpose and will be having
more. When you can, please support them and help them to help us. There
are several organizations in Ramsey which you might like to join, such
as the Lions Club, two snowmobile clubs, two saddle clubs, Boy Scouts,
4-H clubs, etc. For further information, please contact Mrs. Schneider
at 421-5233. We surely appreciate the help we have received from the
residents living around the Peltzer Park. Without their help we would
not have had the skating rink there this winter. This summer we hope to
have picnic tables, etc. for the young fry and their parents to enjoy.
This all takes work and time and we hope we will continue to receive
both from the people living in the area of our many parks. This is what
the Planning and Zoning Commission has been trying to achiev~is neigh-
borhood parks in the true sense of the word, where neighbors can work and
play together. We have just acquired an eleven acre park and wild life
area about a mile east of County Highway No. 83 on County Highway No. 63.
We hope boys and girls in Scouts and 4-H could enjoy and study nature
here, as well as, the rest of our co~unity. There is another one pro-
posed along Trott Brook, which may some day join the ranks of beautiful
park areas in Ramsey. I

We are aware that some people have received their newsletter with in-
correct names or addresses. If you would like to notify us of a correc-
tion, please contact Mrs. Schneider at 421-5233. Also, if you have new
neighbors, please urge them to contact Mrs. Schneider so they can receive
future newsletters.

All mailboxes should be 44 inches high. Before putting up your mailbox
you should consult with your mail carrier so as to locate it in a place
that will not cause the carrier to get stuck. If snow is not shovelled
away from in front of the mail box, the mail will not be delivered. If
a carrier spent one minute extra at each stop, with 500 stops he would
take more than 24 hours to make his deliveries.

Another reminder that we are now required to have a mlnlmum size of 4
inch reflective house numbers that are visible from the street, so that
an ambulance or police car can easily find us.

With spring cleanup coming, we want to urge everyone to be especially
careful about fires and to be on the alert. Also be sure you have fire
insurance coverage for the cost of the fire call in case you should have
a fire. If you have a special need for burning, be sure to call one of
the fire wardens for a permit. They are:

Manford Schake - - -
Martin Gorham - - -
Wilbur Chapman -

421-4665
421-4121
421-5761

Astrid Guy, Secretary

~~
...
