-2- ~

BURNING PERMITS: We are coming into the dry season and we want to urge
everyone to be especially careful about fires. Be sure you have insur-\
ance coverage in case of a fire so your fire call is covered. If you have
a special need for burning, be sure to call one of the fire wardens for
a permit. They are:

Wilbur Chapmarr-.-~- - 421-5761
Martin Gorham - - - - 421-4121
Manford Schake - - - - - - 421-4665

This is a good time to be trapping pocket gophers. The County and the
Township each pay l5t, which means 30t a gopher to the trapper. Bring in
the two front feet for each gopher, frozen. This is a good way to make
some money in your spare time.

OPERATING IDENTIFICATION IS GOING GREAT. It is said we have more of our
residents using this plan than both Anoka and Coon Rapids, for which we
are grateful. The more people having this program, the more it will cut
down robbery in our area. One place was robbed in the late evening, long
after dark. No one was at home. The robbers may not have seen the decals.
At any rate all they took was money and jewelry which, of course, was not
marked. There were two colored TVs, one in the family room and one in the
livingroom. They had been pulled out at any angle from the wall and you
could readily see the large identification numbers across the back. They
left them standing right there. This program is free. Just call the Town
Hall and we will put your name on the list. Burglary insurance only pays
the depreciated price on your belongings and this insurance is very expen-
sive. Many people are getting a discount on their isurance by using this
program.

We are very happy to welcome a new store into our Township. Mr. Robert
Muller has opened his store on the corner of Highway No. 47 and l~th Av-
enue, facing on the Avenue. He opened the first afternoon for four hours
and had 250 people. We have needed a store like this in our Township for
a long time and we wish him great success. He is also our Park Board
Chairman and is working for us in this capacity.

We want to say "Thank you" to Kay Nelson, one of our supervisor& for his
work on planning the large playground that will come to being on the
grounds of our new school. You can stop in the office to see a large pos-
ter showing all the playground equi:pment that the Lions Club is giving to
the children of Ramsey. They had planned on spending $15,600 over a five
year period but with inflation, it looks now as if it would be about
$22,000. Today they put in an order for $10,000 worth and the school is
spending $4,600. Let's help the Lions Club whenever we can because they
certainly are helping us.

July 31st there was a combined meeting of several adjacent communities
to discuss mutual problems. Our Township Chairman, Mr. Cox, organized
the meeting and pointed out that decisions made by our neighboring com-
munities directly affected Ramsey's residents. Mr. Hopperstad, Mr. Nel-
son and Mr. Reimann of the Town Board also attended with our Building
Inspector, Mr. Pittman and the members of the Planning and Zoning Com-
mission.

THE PARK BOARD would like to thank our' supervisor, Gary Reimann, who is
responsible for placing equipment in our parks and for showing much com-
munity interest in their planning. The Park Board would also like to
encourage the self-help concept that was started by the residents around
the Peltzer Park last fall which resulted in benches being made and
painted and a skating area being kept clean this past winter. The Town-
ship put up a light for the skating area. This concept is being used in
