7550 Sunwood Drive NW t> Ramsey, MN 55303 City Hall: 763.427.1410 v Fax: 763.427.5543 www.cityoframsey.com Non -Traditional Animal License Requirements: • Application submittal requirements: o A sketch plan must be provided showing where the animals will be maintained and how the owner will comply with the standards of Chapter 10 of Ramsey City Code. o Any additional permits from other regulatory agencies must be provided. o There shall be a roofed or covered structure with walls to protect the animals from the elements. A permit will be required to build a new structure. o A confined exercise area must be provided for the animal(s). The exercise area shall be fenced off to prevent the animals from roaming at large. o Manure shall be handled and treated in such a manner so as not to create a public nuisance or impact the environment or groundwater. Corrals, pens, stables, and similar enclosures shall be maintained in a manner to minimize fly breeding. No person shall leave accumulations of manure on any street or sidewalk. • The City may impose conditions on the following: o Number of animal units allowed and/or type of animals. o Setbacks greater than those required in section 10-23 or the underlying zoning district for the property in question. o Restrictions on the size, height, and type of enclosures. o Screening or landscaping of the proposed use. • The application requires approval by the City Council. The application shall be submitted at least 30 days prior to the next City Council meeting. The City notifies property owners within 350 feet of the property in question and provides a two (2) week public comment period prior to the City Council meeting. • Prohibited animals as listed in C_`_ tpter=_110 of Ramsey City Code cannot receive allon-Traditional Animal License. • Animals regulated through a Non -Traditional Animal License may include: o Non=domestic animals notaddressed in Chapter 10' of'Rarrisey City Code. o Dangerous farm animals as addressed in Chabter 10 of Ramsey City Code. Private Kennel License Requirements: • The application shall specify the number and breed(s) of dogs proposed to be maintained on the premise. • A sketch plan must be provided showing where the animals will be maintained and how the owner will comply with the standards of Chapter 10 of Ramsey City Code. • The application will require approval by the City Council. The application shall be submitted at least 30 days prior to a City Council meeting. • The City Council will hold a public hearing and make the final decision on the application. Property owners within 350 feet of the property boundaries will be, notified of the public hearing. , . Beekeeping Zoning Permit Requirements: • Hives may only be located on lots with an existing use. • No hive shall exceed twenty (20) cubic feet in volume. No hive shall be located closer than three (3) feet from any property line or within any easement, whichever is more restrictive. No hive shall be located closer than ten (10) feet from a neighboring, inhabited structure. • A constant supply of water shall be supplied or available to all hives.
