The flyway barrier shall consist of 100% opaque fencing, dense, year-round (coniferous) vegetation, existing structures, or combination thereof, and shall extend at least 25 feet beyond the hive. • Colonies shall be maintained in moveable frame hives with adequate space and management techniques to prevent overcrowding and swarming. • In any instance in which a colony exhibits unusually aggressive characteristics by stinging or attempting to sting without due provocation or exhibits an unusual disposition towards swarming, it shall be the duty of the beekeeper to requeen the colony. Queens shall be selected from stock bred for gentleness and non - swarming characteristics. • The application for a zoning permit shall contain a sketch plan of the premises where the bee hives will be maintained. The sketch plan shall provide sufficient detail to demonstrate compliance with the standards of this section. • The number of allowed hives shall be based on property size: Lot Size 0.25 acres or less 0.25-0.99 acres 1.00-1.99 acres 2.00-3.99 acres 4 acres or larger (Up to 5 frame Nucleus Number of Hives Up to 4 hives Up to 8 hives Up to 20 hives Up to 40 hives Over 40 hives colonies'do riot have'quantity limits.) General Reauirements of Permits/Licenses: • Permits and licenses shall be valid without renewal provided the applicant colnpIieswith the terms of the permit or license. Permits and licenses may not be transferred fipm one person to another? or one property to another. • Permits or licenses may be revoked by the City Council with a public hearing under the following circumstances: o Any violation of Chapter i 0 of Ramsey City Code o If the animal(s) constitutes a danger or nuisance as determined by Chatter I ()or Chapter 30 of Ramsey City Code o Material misstatement or misrepresentation in application for license or renewal thereof o Cruel or inhumane treatment of the animal(s) by any person o Failure to keep the licensee's premises in an orderly, aesthetically pleasing manner o Failure to comply with the terms of the license Animals that do not require a license or permit include domestic and non -domestic animals addressed in Chapter. 0 of Ramsey City Code.
