</

, .

~
~

Ramsey Comprehensive Plan
Issues Raised at Public Hearing
Planning Commission Review
Oct. 4, 2001

1) Requesting Land Use Classification Changes
. Concern about Places to Shop designation at 153rd and Hwy. 47, instead
should be low density residential, with a few acres as commercial.
Planning Commission previously recommended that the NW corner of Hwy.
47/Alpine Dr. be changed to High Density Residential. Planning Commission
recommends that the NE corner ofHwy. 47/Alpine Dr. remain commercial.
. Change land use designation ofNE corner of Sunfish Lake Blvd. and
Riverdale from Places to Work to High Density Residential. At it's October
4th meeting, the Planning Commission recommended that this requested be
denied and the land use should remain as commercial.
. Change Lot 1, Block 6, Rum River Hills from Rural Developing residential to
commercial to adhere to the Rum River Hills PUD. Planning Commission
recommends that this land use change.
. MUSA should be expanded to encompass the Tom Thumb store on Ramsey
Blvd, and the lot to the north so that it can be developed commercially.
Planning Commission recommends that this land use change.
. Low density residential classification should be changed to medium density
residential for 30 acres bounded by County Road 5, Sunfish Lake Blvd. and
153rd. Planning Commission discussed this request at length and decided to
make no recommendation to the Council.. The Planning Commission saw both
positives and negatives with the proposed land use change.

2) Rural Preserve Area The Planning Commissionfelt no change was neededfrom the
March 2001 Comprehensive Plan Draft.
. Rural Preserve area unfair to land owners
. Does not like Rural Preserve
. Rural Preserve is not acceptable
. Does not like restrictions on development in Rural Preserve Area.
. Need to get rid of 4 in 40 in Rural Preserve Area
. Restricting development in the Rural Preserve is unfair
. There should be no 4 in 40 restrictions in Rural Preserve Area.

3) Mississippi River Bridge Crossing The Planning Commission had no particular
recommendation regarding these comments.
. Need river crossing
. Need bridge crossing
. Bridge crossing is long overdue
. Need bridge crossing in Ramsey.
