JAN -09 -2001 18:02 NHL
that the language he drafted and that was passed is, in the opinion of legal
experts in a position to know, not constitutional.
At the Council meeting on December 19, 2000 Mr. Hendriksen asked that the
ordinance be added to the agenda for reconsideration and following another
failed vote he produced a resolution that was new information to at least two of
the other voting members. Mr. Goodrich said that Mr. Hedriksen had consulted
with him on the resolution but Mr. Goodrich had not reviewed it. Mr. Goodrich
stated he did not believe that the process outlined by Mr. Hendriksen is a legal
way to adopt an ordinance. The Council voted 3 -2 to call a special election
anyway. This is irresponsible Council behavior.
If the City indeed moves to a special election at a cost of $10,000 - $20,000 and
the process and ordinance is found to be illegal can we charge Mr. Hendriksen
for the election and legal costs? In my opinion he has acted irresponsibly on this
matter and has used the City's resources to further his personal agenda.
would like to know how much billing from Mr. Goodrich is attributable to calls
from Mr. Hendriksen on this issue and on all matters.
I would have hoped that the money spent on Mr. Hudson would have resulted in
a better group dynamic with this Council. The personal attacks displayed by Mr.
Zimmerman were shocking considering that he did not participate in the
discussion and frankly his comments seemed unrelated to the issue. 1 hope that
in the future the members can act with respect towards each other and the staff
and that they demand respectful behavior of residents that attend public
meetings.
Thank you for your good work.
Sincerely,
7 .
Cindy Sherman
2
r. e.6 /115
TOTAL P.03
