Mr. Norman
April 16, 2001
Page 2
Minnesota Statutes 473.864, Subd. 1, requires local governments to adopt the comprehensive plan
within nine months following the Council's review. We request two copies of your final plan
once it is revised and adopted to include all the information that was submitted. One copy will be
placed in the Council library and the other will be placed in the working file for Comprehensive
Planning. In addition, please send us documentation indicating that the city adopted or amended
any official local controls in order to implement the comprehensive plan and Critical Area plan.
We congratulate you and your staff for preparing a thoughtful, well- organized plan that helps
accomplish Smart Growth principles within the current and proposed urban area, that protects the
environment and that enhances the designated Mississippi National River and Recreation Area
and state Critical Area corridor. We look forward to working with you to achieve the goals of the
comprehensive and Critical Area plans and the Smart Growth Opportunity Site award.
Ted wage ge --
Chair
Attachments: Review record
cc: Sandy Fecht, DNR Waters
Kate Hanson, NPS -MNRRA
Sherry Narusiewicz, MnDOT, Metropolitan Division
Natalie Haas Steffen, Metropolitan Council District 9
Kristina Smitten, River Corridor Planner
Linda Milashius, Referrals Coordinator
Sandra Pinel, Sector Representative and Principal Reviewer
V:\library\commundv\referrals\letters\2001\ramseycputrans.doc
