<br />City Engineer Jankowski indicated the remaining trail crossings include the following nine <br />locations: CR 116/Sunwood Dr; CR 116/Rhinestone St; CR 116/Town Center Dr; CR <br />116/Zeolite St; CR 56/E. Ramsey Pkwy; CR 57/Sunwood Dr; CR 57/153rd La; CR 57/Sodium <br />St; CSAH 51 Alpine Dr. Mr. Jankowski advised there are also a number of locations where the <br />City's proposed trail system will cross County highways at locations other than at intersections. <br />The listing of these locationsjs as follows: CSAH 5/CD #3; CSAH 5/Trott Brook; CR 56/CD <br />#3; CR 56/Titterud Park; CR 83/Trott Brook; CR 83/Power line nlo 176th Ave. Mr. Jankowski <br />advised the cost of placing pavement markings, pedestrian crossing and advance pedestrian <br />crossing signs would be $1,100 per crossing. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook requested ciarification that the City requests a crosswalk and the County <br />determines whether the warrants are met. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski advised the County wi111ikely want the City to look at trying to avoid <br />the proliferation of crosswalks. Eventually there will be trails throughout the City with potential <br />crossings. He suggested a plan be developed with crossings a part of required improvements <br />with developments.- <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig questioned the effectiveness of the. crosswalks. He noted in some states he <br />sees drivers that always stop at a crosswalk, but in Minnesota traffic does not stop for <br />crosswalks. It is almost dangerous to put the crosswalks in and expect people to abide by it <br />when the motorists do not. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski indicated this is why the crosswalks should be used sparingly. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stressed the need to consider pedestrian underpasses at trail crossings <br />located at high traffic areas. He suggested the Park}30ard yveigh in on this topic. <br /> <br />Chairperson Elvig suggested a comprehensive map of pedestrian underpass locations be <br />presented to the Park Board for review. <br /> <br />The Committee discussed possible l~cations for pedestrian underpasses. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Committee was to direct staff to draft a comprehensive map of possible <br />locations for ~~1;F.m~~ig~1~~~1~llt~I~~il~~1~ft~!P~[~~ to be presented to the Park Board for <br />review prior to further discussion by the Public Works Committee. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br /> <br />Discuss 167th MSA Alignment <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski indicated when the Brookfield subdivision was platted there was a <br />decision made to route the 167th Avenue collector street to the south with a general alignment <br />that was thought to be feasible. Mr. Peterson of Oakwood Land Development has property <br />rights to a couple of the properties that are needed for the alignment; there is a total of four <br />parcels that require acquisition for the road alignment.
