Mr. James E. Norman
Page two
December 4, 2006
This would be included in a formal agreement between Mn/DOT and
the City.
• If the entire parcel is not needed for Mn/DOT right of way, Mn/DOT will
reimburse the city a prorated amount. The percentage of future
Mn/DOT right of way out of the entire 41 .acres will be the basis for the
prorated reimbursement. The remaining portion of the parcel would
not change ownership.
• The City agrees to hold the land in its current undeveloped state and
.would be part of a formal agreement; relocation and/or demolition of
structures, etc. will not be paid for by Mn/DOT at the time it would
acquire the property.
• The preferred bridge crossing remains in its current location; should a
new location be selected as a preferred. alternative in p{ace of this
corridor, Mn/DOT would not acquire the subject property.
• The purchase of Mn/DOT right of way shall conform to all applicable
state and federal laws.
These conditions are intended to clarify Mn/DOT's ability to reimburse the City of
Ramsey for the purchase of the subject property should the bridge crossing
project move forward in this location. Reimbursement would likely only occur
once the project has been programmed and has entered into the appropriate,
phase of-the project development process where right-of-way acquisition
activities would occur..
The proactive efforts the City of Ramsey is making to preserve land needed for
future transportation .improvements along the TH 10 corridor are extremely
important to Mn/DOT and to the viability of projects in this area as a whole. Your
forward thinking approach will save a significant amount of dollars in future right-
of-way costs for the city and state, and f .commend your efforts.
If you have additional questions or comments, feel free to contact Chris Roy,
North Area Manager at 651-582-1481 or chris.royCa)dot.state.mn.us.
Sincerely,
ani Sahebjam, P. E.
District Engineer
