For the purposes of this section, immediate family includes as spouse, parent, stepparent, child, <br />step -child, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, an individual where the employee is a legal <br />guardian, or a similar member of employee's spouse's family. <br />Additional funeral leave, in order to make arrangements for or attend funeral services <br />or a memorial, or address financial or legal matters that arise after the death of <br />a family member may be taken from EMPLOYEES earned ESST accrual as <br />available and as defined under Minnesota Statute §§ 181.9445, as amended. This <br />leave shall be deducted from EMPLOYEES the earned ESST accrual. <br />If the need for funeral leave does not meet either the EMPLOYERS funeral leave <br />policy or state statute for earned ESST and safe time, EMPLOYEES may request <br />vacation or compensatory time as the EMPLOYEE may choose and have <br />available. <br />6.13 Minnesota Paid Family Medical Leave (MN PFML) <br />Minnesota Paid Family Medical Leave (MN PFML) is a state -run program that provides partial <br />wage replacement and job protection for eligible employees during major life events. The City of <br />Ramsey shares the cost with eligible employees on a 50/50 basis with the Employee through <br />payroll deductions pursuant to Minn. Stat. §268B.14. Employees may utilize accrued paid leave <br />to supplement MN PFML not to exceed 100% of the regular wage of the employee. Wages <br />resulting from the use of accrued leave that meet the PERA (Public Employee Retirement <br />Association) definition of Eligible Compensation, shall receive all applicable PERA contributions <br />concurrent with the use of the accrued paid leave. <br />The city provides time off to eligible employees who qualify for Minnesota Paid Leave (MN <br />PFML) benefits under Minnesota law. The City of Ramsey is a participant in the State of <br />Minnesota's Paid Leave program. The program is administered through MetLife, a private <br />vendor. Contract Human Resources staff for additional information. <br />Eligibility <br />Eligibility determinations for MN PFML benefits are made by MetLife. Generally, to be eligible <br />for MN PFML, you must: <br />• Work at least 50% of the time from a location in Minnesota, including employees who <br />work from home or spend time in other states occasionally. <br />• Meet the financial eligibility requirements by having earned over a specific amount of <br />wages as defined under Minnesota law at the time of your requested leave. <br />Benefit Amount <br />An employee's weekly MN PFML benefits are calculated and determined by MetLife as <br />determined by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). <br />44 <br />
