7.5 Appearance and Dress Policy <br />The appearance and dress of City employees has a direct reflection on the professionalism of our <br />services. A neat, well-groomed employee presents a positive image of the City and demonstrates <br />the pride of City employees. Appearance and attire significantly influence how community <br />members perceive City staff and the confidence customers have in the City's ability to provide <br />quality services. The standard office attire for employees Monday through Friday will be <br />Business Casual or Formal Business, with some exceptions on Fridays as noted below. <br />Employees shall use good judgement to dress for their day by selecting attire that aligns with the <br />nature of their scheduled work, meetings and interactions with the public. <br />APPRORIATE CASUAL / FORMAL BUSINESS ATTIRE <br />• Suits, sport coats or blazers <br />• Dress slacks, pants, khakis, denim dress jeans (must be properly fitted at the waistline <br />with no rips, tears, stains, frayed fabric, etc.) <br />• Dress shirts, polos, blouses, shirts, or sweaters <br />• Dresses, skirts or business capris (no more than 3 inches above the knee) <br />• Business shoes, dress sandals, loafers, clean athletic shoes (athletic shoes must be of a <br />sleek nature not to draw attention away from a conversation) <br />APPROPRIATE CASUAL FRIDAYATTIRE <br />• Casual sweaters, shirts or polos (private slogans or advertising may not exceed 8 square <br />inches) <br />• Hooded sweatshirts with a City of Ramsey logo <br />• Casual slacks, pants, and denim jeans (must be properly fitted at the waistline with no <br />rips, tears, stains, or frayed fabric, etc.) <br />• Periodically, as announced, sport jerseys or team shirts may be worn on casual Friday <br />(logos may exceed 8 square inches in size but apparel shall be in good condition; no <br />sweat pants or wind pants) <br />Employees who take Friday off may not substitute another day for "casual Friday." <br />INAPPROPRIATE ATTIRE AND APPEARANCE IN THE WORKPLACE <br />• Unkept personal hygiene and an appearance that is not neat and tidy. <br />• Extreme hair colors and shoes <br />• Tattoos that are deemed distracting or offensive, including, but not limited to depicting <br />racial, sexual, discriminatory, or gang -related images or obscene language, or those that <br />undermine City's values. Offensive or distracting tattoos must be covered while working. <br />• Piercings that are loose or dangle, except for earrings or small, snug -fitting nose piercings <br />or studs. <br />• Piercings that interfere with speaking clearly. <br />• Facial piercings (e.g., septum, eyelid, eyebrow, cheek, lips, etc.). <br />57 <br />
