• Slogans or advertising exceeding 2 inches, except for City logos. <br />• T-shirts, halter tops, tank tops, tube tops, muscle shirts, shirts or dresses with spaghetti <br />straps or garments revealing the midriff or off -the -shoulder. <br />• Athletic wear (e.g., workout clothes, sweatpants, sweat suits, leggings, and yoga pants). <br />o An exception to leggings or yoga pants is allowed if paired with an upper garment <br />that drapes over and down to the mid -thigh <br />• Shorts and mini -skirts. <br />• Dirty, ripped, wrinkled, or stained clothing. <br />• Transparent or overly tight garments. <br />• Clothing that is overly revealing or outlandish, causing distraction. <br />• Clothing with offensive or derogatory images or wording. <br />• Crocks, flip flops, thongs, barefoot sandals or bare -bottom shoes unless a doctor's note <br />stating the reason for the exception is submitted to Human Resources <br />Employees Who Work Outdoors <br />Employees who work outside must follow the dress code established by their Department Head. <br />Clothing must always be neat, clean, and not overly worn, faded, or in disrepair. Work shirts <br />may not be sleeveless, and employees may not go shirtless while on duty. Solid -color shorts and <br />jeans are acceptable when appropriate and with prior approval from the Department Head. <br />Uniformed Personnel <br />Uniforms provided to some City employees are expected to be neat, fresh, and clean when <br />reporting for duty. Each department is responsible for ensuring that employees follow regulations <br />regarding uniforms, related accessories, and equipment. Uniforms bearing City identification may <br />not be worn during off -duty hours. <br />Under certain circumstances, employees may be required, as a condition of employment, to wear <br />clothing identifying them as a City of Ramsey employee. If applicable, a payroll stipend may be <br />provided, and applicable taxes will be withheld according to the IRS regulations. <br />Religious Considerations <br />Nothing in the policy is intended to infringe upon an individual's desire to observe and exercise <br />religious practices. The City will make reasonable effort to accommodate religious practices <br />regarding dress to the extent that it can do so without affecting employee or customer health and <br />safety. <br />Enforcement <br />The Administrative Services Director, Department Heads or the identified designee are <br />responsible for enforcing this policy. If counseling is ineffective, violations of this policy may <br />result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Employees sent home to change <br />clothes shall not be paid as regular duty during that time; they may use vacation time or unpaid <br />leave. <br />Exceptions <br />Exceptions to this policy will be made only on a case -by -case basis with a doctor's note stating <br />the reason for the exception. <br />58 <br />
