Mayor Gamec inquired about the due date on the bill.
-24-
Finance Officer Lund replied she does not believe she has received the bill.
Councilmember Strommen stated the Council approved $10,000 and this is half that amount; it is
significant.
Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to table the resolution
authorizing $5,500 from Council Contingency for Architectural Renderings for Ramsey Town
Center, and to move the case to the Finance Committee for discussion and future action.
Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Jeffrey, Olson,
Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None.
Case #14: Report from Public Works
1) Review Stormwater Pollution Control Ordinance
Acted on under Case No. 11.
2) Consider Policy for Traffic Control Modification Requests
Public Works Director Olson indicated the Public Works Committee reviewed the draft policy
for traffic control modification requests. The current policy for bringing an issue before the
Public Works Committee for review requires only a written request or an email from a single
individual. The idea and discussion at the Public Works Committee was that traffic control
modification requests can be taken at any time from Council and staff if they see a safety
concern. The idea was not to limit the ability to respond, but that there would be more
ownership in the actual traffic control modification if there are a number of residents in support.
The discussion at the Public Works Committee was that the policy should require a petition
signed by a minimum of five property owners or residents residing within 500 feet of the
requested traffic modification. The motion of the Public Works Committee was to recommend
to the City Council that the attached Policy for Traffic Control Modification Requests be
adopted.
Councilmember Elvig explained there was a fair amount of discussion by the Committee. The
idea was not to make it difficult for residents to bring something forward. However, a fair
amount of money is expended for speed studies, etc. This policy requires five people within 500
feet of the requested traffic modification to make the request.
Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the
recommendation of the Public Works Committee in Case No. 2 and to adopt the attached Policy
for Traffic Control Modification Requests.
Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Cook, Jeffrey, Olson,
Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None.
City Council /November 14, 2006
