This case will be included on the agenda of the November Public <br />Works Committee meeting and brought forward to the following Council meeting for <br />ratification. <br />Councilmember Elvig commended staff for the quick action in getting the four-way stop sign <br />installed. <br />Case #15: Report from Personnel Committee <br />1) Consider Resolution Accepting the Resignation of an Employee and Authorizing <br />Staff to Fill the Resulting Vacancies <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone stated Mr. Robert Kuhn has submitted a letter of <br />resignation indicating that he would retire from the City of Ramsey on February 1, 2007. Staff is <br />recommending that Mr. Kuhn's resignation be accepted by the City Council and that staff be <br />authorized to fill the resulting vacancies. Staff has conducted an internal recruitment process to <br />fill the Sergeant position that will be vacant as of February 2, 2007, as a result of Mr. Kuhn's <br />retirement. Two patrol officers applied for, and were interviewed for, the Sergeant position. The <br />Police Chief recommends that Sheldon Erdman be hired as a patrol Sergeant effective February <br />2, 2007. <br />Mayor Gamec stated Sergeant Kuhn has been an excellent employee. He directed staff to <br />prepare a plaque from the City Council to present to Mr. Kuhn at his retirement. <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone advised staff recommends the following action: <br />1. Motion recommending that the City Council accept Mr. Robert Kuhn's <br />resignation/retirement from his position as Patrol Sergeant effective February 1, 2007. <br />2. Motion recommending that Mr. Sheldon Erdman be promoted to the position of Patrol <br />Sergeant effective February 2, 2007. <br />3. Motion recommending that the City Council grant authorization to begin the recruitment <br />process to hire a patrol officer to replace Mr. Sheldon Erdman. <br />4. Motion recommending that an eligibility list be created to fill the patrol officer position <br />that is expected to be authorized as part of the 2007 budget. <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone explained after the completion of the internal recruitment <br />process to fill the position left vacant by Mr. Erdman, staff will return to the City Council with a <br />request for authorization to hire the selected individual. If authorization is granted to create an <br />eligibility list to fill the patrol officer position that is expected to be authorized as part of the <br />2007 budget, staff will return to the City Council with a request for authorization to hire the <br />selected individual. <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to adopt Resolution #06- <br />11-351 accepting the resignation of Mr. Robert Kuhn and authorizing staff to fill the resulting <br />vacancies as follows: 1) accept Mr. Robert Kuhn's resignation/retirement from his position as <br />Patrol Sergeant effective February 1, 2007; 2) promote Mr. Sheldon Erdman to the position of <br />Patrol Sergeant effective February 2, 2007; 3) grant authorization to begin the recruitment <br />process to hire a patrol officer to replace Mr. Sheldon Erdman; 4) authorize staff to create an <br />City Council / November 14, 2006 <br />Page 25 of 31 <br />
