The <br />Mission Group performs studies and conducts <br />seminars and workshops for agencies and <br />organizations that wish to raise understanding of <br />how to successfully pursue TOO and develop transit <br />systems as elements of an integrated long-range <br />growth strategy. Speakers for this <br />session include EDA representatives from the cities of <br />Coon Rapids and Big Lake, and a representative from <br />the Northstar Corridor. Our greater vision for this type <br />of rail line is that someday this service will extend to <br />areas throughout the state of Minnesota including north <br />of S1. Cloud, Rochester and Duluth. The reality is <br />someday commuters from around the state may be <br />able to ride a rail line to and from their place of <br />employment every day. See how such a line could <br />affect your community's economic future. <br /> <br />8:30 to 11 :30 a.m. <br />Optional Session Two: Mobile Workshop: Tour on the <br />Light Rail* <br />Meet at the light rail station at the Mall of America <br />Mark Gamer, City of Minneapolis <br />Jill Hutmacher, City of Bloomington <br />Ride the Hiawatha LRT from the Bloomington Mall of <br />America to the Minneapolis Warehouse District. Tour <br />guides Jill Hutmacher and Mark Garner will provide <br />insights into how these Transit-Oriented Development <br />projects have developed and what is coming. *If you <br />would like to participate in this session, please be sure <br />to check the box on the registration page. <br /> <br />9:15 to 9:30 a.m. <br />Break <br /> <br />9:30 to 10:15 a.m. <br />Session Three: Central Corridor: Designing and <br />Constructing the LRT, and Planning for Future <br />Development <br />Donna Drummond, City of Sf. Paul PED <br />Mark Fuhrmann, Metro Transit <br />Central Corridor Light Rail Project will be Minnesota's <br />largest single public works project in history. Come <br />hear about the scope of the project, the budget and <br />schedule challenges it will face. This session will have <br />two components. It will provide an overview the Central <br />Corridor LRT project, including the process for design, <br />funding, construction, and anticipated schedule.
