<br />Councilmember Elvig indicated the language of Ms. Nelson's term as Interim City Administrator . <br />was left open, but the goal is for a 6 to 8. month timeframe. <br /> <br />Motion carried. V oting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Cook, Elvig, Olson, <br />Pearson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #13: <br /> <br />Report from Public Works <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig reported Mr. Hess was present at the Public Works meeting with input <br />regarding the streetlight planned for his neighborhood. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski indicated the consensus of the Public Works Committee was to direct <br />staff to proceed with the traditionaire style streetlight at the intersection of 142nd A venue and <br />Waco Street. The installation has been completed. <br /> <br />1) Consider Traffic Control Changes on Alpine Drive at CSAH 83 and CSAH 56 <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski reported Anoka Highway Department recomm.ended signage changes <br />to the intersections of Alpine Drive!CSAH 83 and Alpine Drive/CSAH 56. The primary changes <br />associated with this new traffic control plan for these two intersections include the following: <br /> <br />(a) Placing a Clouble set of STOP signs on the City street approaches; with a standard 36 <br />inch sign on the . left side and an oversized 48 inch sign on the right; and including Cross <br />Traffic Does Not Stop tags beneath the STOP signs. <br /> <br />(b) Installing a double set of symbol style STOP AHEAD signs on both sides of the City <br />street approaches. In the case of eastbound Alpine boulevard approaching Ramsey <br />Boulevard this will be a replacement of a word style STOP AHEAD sign. These STOP <br />AHEAD signs will be placed at the appfGach distances recommended in the Uniform <br />Manual on Traffic Control Devices in Minnesota. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski explained it was the City's responsibility to place STOP AHEAD signs <br />in front of these intersections. Council took action to ratify that recommendation at the <br />November 28, 2006 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />2) Consider Penalties for Violations of the Sign Ordinance <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski reported the Committee discussed violations of the sign ordinance, <br />particularly as it relates to temporary signs. The Committee provided input with regard to the. <br />ordinance. . The ordinance will be reconsidered at the January Committee meeting, taking into <br />account the suggestions and recommendations of the Committee. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig explained steps 1 . and 2 of the progressive system have not really been <br />gone through yet, so they have not found whether a certified letter will truly have an effect. . <br /> <br />City Council/December 12, 2006 <br />Page 24 of 29 <br /> <br />-68- <br />
