Alternately, the dog shall be euthanized and <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />(2) Dangerous <br />a. <br />immediately tested for rabies at the owner's expense. <br />dogs. <br />The animal control officer will provide the owner of a dog that has been deemed dangerous, per this <br />5 <br />6 <br />b. <br />section, with a dangerous dog notice. <br />If the dog has met any of the criteria for dangerous dogs as defined in this chapter, a quarantine <br />7 <br />notice will also be provided to the owner advising of a ten-day quarantine period. <br />8 <br />c. <br />If a proper enclosure cannot be provided for the dog, the animal control officer can seize the dog for <br />9 <br />the quarantine period. All costs of the care, keeping, and disposition of the dog are the responsibility <br />10 <br />11 <br />d. <br />of the owner or person claiming an interest in the dog. <br />Any person knowing of a human being bitten by a dog shall immediately notify the animal control <br />12 <br />officer and said dog shall then be confined and kept under observation for a period of ten days before <br />13 <br />being removed from the owner's property or destroyed. Alternately, the dog shall be euthanized and <br />14 <br />immediately tested for rabies at the owner's expense. <br />15 <br />e. <br />An owner of a dangerous dog shall keep the dog, while on the owner's property, in a proper <br />16 <br />enclosure. If the dog is outside the proper enclosure, the dog must be muzzled and restrained by a <br />17 <br />substantial chain or leash and under the physical restraint of a responsible person. The muzzle must <br />18 <br />be made in a manner that will prevent the dog from biting any person or animal but that will not <br />19 <br />20 <br />f. <br />cause injury to the dog or interfere with its vision or respiration. <br />An owner of a dangerous dog must renew the registration of the dog annually until the dog is <br />21 <br />deceased. If the dog is removed from the jurisdiction, it must be registered as a dangerous dog in its <br />22 <br />23 <br />g. <br />new jurisdiction. <br />An owner of a dangerous dog must notify the animal control authority in writing of the death of the <br />24 <br />dog or its transfer to a new location where the dog will reside within 30 days of the death or transfer, <br />25 <br />and must, if requested by the animal control authority, execute an affidavit under oath setting forth <br />26 <br />either the circumstances of the dog's death and disposition or the complete name with date of birth, <br />27 <br />mailing address, email address, and telephone number of the person to whom the dog has been <br />28 <br />29 <br />h. <br />transferred or the address where the dog has been relocated. <br />An animal control authority shall require a dangerous dog to be sterilized at the owner's expense. If <br />30 <br />the owner does not have the animal sterilized within 30 days, the animal control authority shall seize <br />31 <br />32 <br />i. <br />the dog and have it sterilized at the owner's expense. <br />A person who owns a dangerous dog and who rents property from another owner or entity where <br />33 <br />the dog will reside must disclose to the property owner prior to entering the lease agreement and at <br />34 <br />the time of any lease renewal that the person owns a dangerous dog that will reside at the property. <br />35 <br />j. <br />A person who transfers ownership of a dangerous dog must notify the new owner that the animal <br />36 <br />control authority has identified the dog as dangerous. The current owner must also notify the animal <br />37 <br />control authority in writing of the transfer of ownership and provide the animal control authority <br />38 <br />with the new owner's complete name with date of birth, mailing address, email address, and <br />39 <br />40 <br />41 <br />(3) Dangerous <br />a. <br />telephone number. <br />dog registration. <br />Requirement.
