Commission Input #1 SET CHARTER AGENDA AND SCHEDULE DATE(S) FOR NEXT MEETING(S) By: Jo Thieling, City Clerk Background: At the April 27, 2006 meeting, Chairperson Vogt suggested the Commission set topics for a fall meeting. Suggestions for topics included the following: • Review of Chapter 4.5 • Review of State Statute 4.10 and 4.12 • Review of the City's Organizational Study • Receipt of the Model Charter discussed at the meeting with Kevin Frazell of the LMC Since no topic was in need of immediate attention, Mr. Vogt asked that there be no meeting in October as had been previously scheduled. The Commission has since sent an ordinance to the Council relating to the Council-Manager form of government, so the Organization Study review could be removed from this list. Another item the Commission has expressed some interest in is an orientation packet. At a couple of meetings, staff has brought the orientation material used for the City Council; however, there hasn't been enough time to discuss it. If the Commission is still interested in this item, it can be placed on a future agenda. Staff would ask for input from the Commission what they would like to see in the orientation. The Charter Commission may wish to have a discussion relating to which items listed above should be kept on or removed from the agenda and what topics of interest could be added.
