CASE # II g, MEDICAL EXAMINER'S OFFICE PROJECT IN RAMSEY TOWN CENTER By: Heidi A. Nelson, Interim City Administrator Background: The City has received a letter from Terry Johnson, Anoka County Administrator, reporting on the County's plan to construct a new morgue and office facilities for the Medical Examiner's office. The site selected is near the intersection of Civic Center Street and Rhinestone Street in Ramsey Town Center. Mr. Johnson is asking for commitment from the City of Ramsey for construction of Rhinestone and Civic Center streets by the end of the 2007 construction season. Attached to this case are the letter from Mr. Johnson and also a draft letter from Brian Olson responding to Mr. Johnson's questions relating to the streets, etc. With Council's approval, staff will write a letter of support for the Medical Examiner Office Project to be built in the Ramsey Town Center and forward it to Anoka County along with Mr. Olson's response letter regarding the construction of the streets. Funding: The estimated cost for the street construction is $332,500. Twenty percent of that aTI10unt ($66,500) has already been assessed to RTC Properties. That leaves $266,000 to be funded by the City. The funding source for this project has been identified as the Public Improvement Revolving Fund (Ramsey Town Center). Council Action: Motion to direct staff to write a letter of support and commitment for the Medical Examiner's Office Project to be built in Ramsey Town Center and forward to the County along with the letter from Brian Olson regarding the construction of Rhinestone and Civic Center Streets.
