water and sanitary sewer utilities. This includes the day to day chemical feed testing and documentation required to comply with state regulations, semi annual flushing of the water utility, lift station maintenance, and annual jetting of sanitary sewer system. Ramsey's water utility includes six (6) deep water wells, three (3) pump houses, over 40 miles of water main, two (2) water towers, over 500 fire hydrants, and over 1,000 valves. - The sanitary sewer utility includes about 38 miles of sewer m(;iin and five (5) lift stations. These systems are controlled automatically by a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system. (SCADA) During 2006, more than 640 million gallons of water were pumped from the City's six (6) municipal wells, which is an increase from the 575 million gallons pumped in 2005. Since a substantial portion of the water used is for irrigation, the City must size its water production and storage capacity to meet peak demands year around. . 2006 saw the completion of Well #6 in the Town Center Area which will greatly enhance the ability of the water utility to maintain adequate production. PUBLIC SAFETY Fire: As a "paid, on-call" department, your fire department responded to 496 total calls, of which 89 or 18% are for response to personal injury accidents (mostly vehicle accidents). Although the 496 calls are a few less than 2005's 501, this pace of response continues at a high rate compared to previous history. Total area covered in 2006 increased as of August 1 st when Ramsey Fire began covering the entire township of Burns.
