Councilmember <br />introduced the following ordinance and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #07- 02 -XXX <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONSTRUCTION OF A REGIONAL FORENSIC <br />CRIME LABORATORY IN ANOKA COUNTY AND A REQUEST FOR A SINGLE <br />APPROPRIATION FROM THE STATE OF MINNESOTA TO ASSIST WITH <br />CONSTRUCTION COSTS <br />WHEREAS, providing for public safety is a primary responsibility of government; and <br />WHEREAS, the sharing of resources between communities have proven a cost effective <br />and practical reality in Anoka County; and <br />WHEREAS, law enforcement is the primary tool by which criminals can be identified, <br />arrested and prosecuted; and <br />WHEREAS, technology is now a central and required component for enabling effective <br />law enforcement service; and <br />WHEREAS, the current method of providing forensic analysis of evidentiary matter is <br />overwhelmed resulting in costly delays in arrest and prosecution of criminals; and <br />WHEREAS, such delays negatively impact the safety and quality of life in the <br />community. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) That the City of Ramsey supports the construction of a Regional Forensic Crime <br />Laboratory in Anoka County. <br />2) That the City Council supports the County's request for a single appropriation from <br />the State of Minnesota to assist with construction costs of the facility. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council <br />this the 13` day of February, 2007. <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />:M <br />
