<br />Councilmember Elvig stated that the exposure is $30,000 and that seemed like a big risk. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he would rather set up a payment plan on a quarterly renewal basis <br /> <br />Councilmember Norman asked for direction to bring it back to next week's meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that she wasn't in favor of the proposal at all. She stated that if <br />the City Council was of the consensus that the answer was going to be no in two weeks, she <br />suggested saying no now. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated he would like to hear what the Metropolitan Council had to say. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that if a new proposal were for a quarterly payment, he didn't want to go <br />with a $30,000 commitment without having more information. He concurred in agreement with <br />Councilmember Strommen. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey inquired whether the City might be setting a precedent. He stated that he <br />visited with a resident not too long ago who inquired about a new bridge crossing coming into <br />Ramsey, but when it crosses Highway 10, it goes right through that person's living room. <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that resident wanted to know if they felt comfortable putting <br />money into home improvements. He noted his concern that another resident might come to the <br />City to ask for compensation. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that another citizen, Joe Nathe, was watching this issue very closely <br />because at one time he indicated he would be willing to give the right-of-way if the City gave <br />some extra adjustments. <br /> <br />Ms. Ruehle indicated she wasn't aware of what type of developers Mr. Boike was talking to. <br />She stated Mr. Boike would come back to the City with a development plan and if turned down, <br />then he may take recourse. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated he would not be willing to move ahead without talking to the <br />Metropolitan Council. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that even next week, he wouldn't feel comfortable making a decision. He <br />noted the intent was there on the part of the City Council, but the City needs more information. <br /> <br />Ms. Ruehle stated that this will be the last opportunity to work with Mr. Boike. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that the City may have to take that chance. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />The Work Session ofthe City Council was adjourned at 5:58 p.m. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session / December 21, 2006 <br />Page 5 of6 <br />
