RAMSEY YOUTH I ATHLETIe ASSOeIATION A A FALL, 2000 NEWS RYAA had a successful soccer and football season with approximately 500 registered players in both programs this fall. New this fall was the insulation of football goalposts at Central Parl<. The football program was able to purchase the goalposts due to the generous donations from the following local businesses that sponsored this year's football team: Trilogy Homes Dave Perl<ins Contracting Welle Construction Scott Bovey Chimney Sweep Sewer Worl<s, Inc. RYAA would also lil<e to THANK the Ramsey Lions for their generous cash donation to RYAA's softball program. We asl< that the resident's of Ramsey support these local businesses/organizations, as they support our sports programs and the children of our community. We would lil<e to express our SINCERE GRATITUDE to the City of Ramsey Park Employees for their support and hard worl< in maintaining our soccer and football fields this fall. We couldn't do it without you! RYAABoard Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the building at Central Parl<. If you have an interest in our programs or have any concerns we encourage you to attend our meetings. The annual election of Board Members will be held on Tuesday, January 30,2001, at 7:00p.m. in the building at Central Parl<. All positions are open for election. Many positions will be vacant at the end of this season. If you are interested in providing a healthy sports environment for our children, please consider becoming a member of the RYAABoard and attend this most important meeting. REeREATIONAL FIRES MUST BE 50' FROM STRUeTURES Be sure to follow the City's burning regulations if winter inspires you to have a recreational fire. A recreational fire is an area of no more than three feet in diameter or nine square feet. It must be located at least 50 feet from any structure or vehicle. Burning barrels are prohibited. Use only dry, clean wood. Plywood, chipboard and other products containing resins or glues are strictly prohibited. Painted and preservative-treated wood scraps can give off toxic smoke. Don't inhale! Running grass fires are prohibited, except for prairie restoration. Burning leaves, grass and debris is also prohibited. Recreational burning is allowed only between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. Fires must be attended by an adult at all times until completely extinquished. A garden hose connected to water should be nearby. Violations can be subject to a citation, including extinguishment charges of $250 per hour. Be respectful of weather conditions, neighbors, burning bans, and air quality so that nuisance, health or safety hazards will not be created. Open fires larger than three feet in diameter require a permit which can be obtained at City Hall. A complete copy of Ramsey City Ordinance #92-03, which regulates burning, is also available at City Hall. ANOKA COUNTY 4-H'ERS ARE Top WINNERS AT MINNESOTA STATE FAIR At the Minnesota State Fair, the following Ramsey 4- H members were awarded purple ribbons and special recognition on their lmowledge and outstanding worl< in their project area: Brian Hanson, Computers Megan Hiatt, Creative Arts Seth Petro, Self Determined I would rather be the man who bought the Brooklyn Bridge than the man who sold it. - Will Rogers
