Telephone counselors can provide mental health
assessments, intervention, supportive counseling, information and referrals.
The Counseling Line is a free service and callers may remain anonymous.
"It is important that people with mental illness know this resource
is available to them," said Anoka County Commissioner Margaret
Langfeld, who chairs the County's Human Services Committee. "The
highly trained mental health professionals who staff the Counseling Line
provide a broad range of support, from referrals to counseling. With this
service, we hope to keep people who suffer from mental illness from
developing more serious problems."
Anoka County's Adult Mental Health Advisory Committee, which
advises the county board on adult mental health issues, was the catalyst
for the Counseling Line. "The concept of a phone counseling service
was particularly appealing because it is convenient and always available,"
said Anoka County Commissioner Dave McCauley, committee member.
"The need for this service is apparent; in the first six weeks of operation,
the Counseling Line logged more than 60 calls."
THANK YOU TO
EVERYONE WHO HELPED
On Saturday, May 12th, the City of Ramsey and friendly neighbors
brought about the opportunity to experience a community working together.
The City of Ramsey provided the residents along the service
road of Highway #47, from 149th Lane past 152nd Avenue, with lilac,
purple leaf chokecherry and silky dogwood seedlings to plant along the
highway. This was a very worthwhile project that will benefit the residents
and the passersby.
This neighborhood effort was made possible with the help of
Shademakers' volunteers Tom Miller and Michael Max. Steve Jankowski,
City Engineer, provided the budget for the plant materials needed and
Bruce Bacon, Environmental Specialist, helped bring us all together to
accomplish a favorable outcome for the whole community.
Perhaps there are other neighborhoods that would also benefit
through knowledge that the City of Ramsey is willing to partner with
volunteers who wish to beautify City property.
Thank you to everyone who was involved with this project. It's
nice to see the good that can be accomplished when we work together.
I use to wok in a muffler factory, until I got exhausted. — Anonymous
Donna Norton
