CITY WATER CUSTOMERS
ODD/ L' VEN DAY
SPRINKLING BAN
Water demand for irrigation on warm
days can be as much as three to four times the
average amount used throughout the year. To
reduce peak water usage in areas served by
the municipal water system, the City of Ramsey
has implemented an odd /even day sprinkling
ban, pursuant to City Code 4.40.07.
You may water on odd numbered days
if your address ends in an odd number, and on
even numbered days if your address ends in
an even number.
The sprinkling restriction includes no
watering between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
because a significant amount of water is lost
due to evaporation during the hot portions of
the day. Homeowners with automated systems
are strongly encouraged to program them to
operate after 10:00 p.m. This minimizes
evaporation and lessens peak demand on the
system.
Newly seeded or sodded lawns are
exempt from the odd /even requirement during
the establishment period, which is two weeks.
However, the 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. watering
ban still applies.
Hopefully, we will not experience any
drought periods which, for protection of fire
fighting reserves, would require a complete ban.
If the City is forced to call for a temporary
complete ban, you will be notified by a special
notice.
The odd / even watering restrictions,
including the 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
watering ban, are in effect from Monday,
May 15th until Tuesday, September 5th.
Ramsey is noted for its wetlands and
rivers, but ground water is a finite resource.
Water conservation is in everyone's best
interest. We appreciate your anticipated
cooperation so that we may continue to provide
you with safe, high quality water at the least
possible cost. For additional information, a
paper entitled "Adjustment for Irrigation
Efficiency" is available at City Hall by request.
Construction of Fire Station #2 will begin in mid -April at the location
of 15010 Armstrong Blvd. With the completion of the additional station,
response times to the western portion of Ramsey will be reduced by
approximately 50 %.
The building will accommodate 4 apparatus bays, training rooms
and administrative areas. The new fire station will also be used as a polling
station as well as an interim City Council Chambers. Current equipment
and personnel will be divided between the two stations to utilize equipment
in the most effective means possible.
The Fire Depai ttnent will be adding up to ten additional firefighters
to its thirty person staff in the future. If any residents are interested in
joining the Ramsey Fire Department Team please call City Hall at 427 -1410
for more information.
NEW FACES AT CITY HALL
If you have visited City Hall recently, some of you may have noticed
of the City's Assistant City Administrator. She comes to Ramsey from the
City of St. Anthony where she worked as the Assistant City Manager for 5
years and previously as an administrative intern for Brooklyn Center and
New Brighton.
There are new faces among the Public Works staff as well. Jon
Pearson has been working with the City of Ramsey as a part time Park
maintenance worker. He was recently hired as a full time maintenance
employee and started in that capacity on May 5th
Sean Sullivan joins the Finance Department as the City's TIF
Specialist on May 8th and Brian Olson, previously a civil engineer with the
