CITY COUNCIL MEETING UPDATES The Ramsey City Council met on Tuesday, February 22, 2000, and heard a presentation by Metropolitan Council representative Natalie Haas Steffen regarding a grant available to assist with implementing an acceptable septic inspection program. Council heard a presentation by Michael Max introducing a DNR neighborhood wilds program for the area located by the new park along T.H. #47 and the existing ditch that was dug by the County in the 1920's His request was to get City staff and the DNR to make sure the drainage works properly for the area, but keep the wildlife in tact. Council proclaimed April 29 as Arbor Day and the month of May as Arbor Month. A public hearing was conducted on the bituminous paving ofJackel Street from 153rd Avenue to 151 Lane. Council voted to accept the feasibility study. A public hearing was conducted on the bituminous paving of Iguana Street from 153 Avenue to 151 Lane. Council voted to accept the feasibility study. Council conducted a public hearing on Section 28 Land Uses and Street System. Following a considerable amount of citizen input, Council voted to send the plan back to SRF to have them develop a plan without the connections to C.R. #116, except for Zeolite and then present the item back to the Planning Commission. Council adopted an ordinance establishing Mississippi River Storm Water Subdrainage District No. 1. A public hearing was conducted relating to the storm sewer for Mississippi River Storm Water Subdrainage District No. 1. Council tabled any action to allow for all of the Councilmembers to have a chance to review all five of the options that were considered for this project. The Ramsey City Council met on Tuesday, March 14, 2000, and presented Finance Officer Lund with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting received from the Government Finance Officers Association. Council approved a site plan for the new facility for Systematic Refrigeration. The new facility is generally located south of Industry Avenue and north of the intersection of 149 "' Avenue and Radium Street. The proposed office building is 80,280 square feet. Council granted final plat approval of West Radium Business Center. The area to be platted is located southwest of the intersection of 140th Avenue and Radium Street. WHAT'S HAPPENING S IN RAMSEY in Section 28. Council awarded the bid construction for Ramsey's second fire station. The Ramsey City Council met on Tuesday, March 28, 2000 and granted site plan approval to West Radium Business Center. They are planning to expand their existing facility at 14150 Sunfish Lake Boulevard NW. Council granted a conditional use permit to Commercial Asphalt to continue plant operations. Council gave preliminary plat approval for Northfork Highlands Second Addition. The plat consists of 11 lots on the west boundary of the Northfork PUD. Preliminary plat approval was also granted to Northfork Oaks 4t'' Addition. The plat consists of six new lots and the replat of two existing lots in the northeast corner of the Northfork PUD. A grading permit in Northfork Lake Addition was approved. The purpose of the project is to create more attractive, walkout style building sites. Council amended the conditional use permit for Outdoor Recreational Uses for Diamonds Sports Bar. The present uses include softball, volleyball and broom ball. The request is to amend the CUP to also include batting cages, a splat ball course, horseshoe pits, basketball, and roller hockey in the summer and boot hockey in the winter. Life would be so much easier if everyone read the manual. — Anonymous Council reallocated CDBG monies for planning and housing rehabilitation purposes. This will divide the population more evenly and should make your voting experience a more pleasant one with shorter lines. The above map shows the boundaries and the polling places. There is a more detailed map for view at City Hall. Early this summer, probably June, you will be receiving a card from Anoka County Elections, notifying you of this change in precincts. If any of your information is incorrect on the card, please contact Anoka County Elections. This will prevent you from having to stand in line to get changes made on the day of the election.
