CITY COUNCIL <br />MEETING UPDATES <br />The Ramsey City Council met on <br />Tuesday, February 22, 2000, and heard a <br />presentation by Metropolitan Council <br />representative Natalie Haas Steffen regarding a grant <br />available to assist with implementing an acceptable septic <br />inspection program. Council heard a presentation by Michael <br />Max introducing a DNR neighborhood wilds program <br />for the area located by the new park along T.H. #47 and the <br />existing ditch that was dug by the County in the 1920's His <br />request was to get City staff and the DNR to make sure the <br />drainage works properly for the area, but keep the wildlife in <br />tact. <br />Council proclaimed April 29 as Arbor Day and <br />the month of May as Arbor Month. <br />A public hearing was conducted on the bituminous <br />paving ofJackel Street from 153rd Avenue to 151 Lane. <br />Council voted to accept the feasibility study. <br />A public hearing was conducted on the bituminous <br />paving of Iguana Street from 153 Avenue to 151 <br />Lane. Council voted to accept the feasibility study. <br />Council conducted a public hearing on Section 28 <br />Land Uses and Street System. Following a considerable <br />amount of citizen input, Council voted to send the plan back <br />to SRF to have them develop a plan without the connections <br />to C.R. #116, except for Zeolite and then present the item <br />back to the Planning Commission. <br />Council adopted an ordinance establishing <br />Mississippi River Storm Water Subdrainage District <br />No. 1. <br />A public hearing was conducted relating to the storm <br />sewer for Mississippi River Storm Water Subdrainage <br />District No. 1. Council tabled any action to allow for all <br />of the Councilmembers to have a chance to review all five of <br />the options that were considered for this project. <br />The Ramsey City Council met on Tuesday, <br />March 14, 2000, and presented Finance Officer Lund with <br />a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial <br />Reporting received from the Government Finance <br />Officers Association. <br />Council approved a site plan for the new facility <br />for Systematic Refrigeration. The new facility is generally <br />located south of Industry Avenue and north of the intersection <br />of 149 "' Avenue and Radium Street. The proposed office <br />building is 80,280 square feet. <br />Council granted final plat approval of West <br />Radium Business Center. The area to be platted is located <br />southwest of the intersection of 140th Avenue and Radium <br />Street. <br />WHAT'S <br />HAPPENING <br />S IN <br />RAMSEY <br />in Section 28. <br />Council awarded the bid construction for <br />Ramsey's second fire station. <br />The Ramsey City Council met on Tuesday, <br />March 28, 2000 and granted site plan approval to West <br />Radium Business Center. They are planning to expand <br />their existing facility at 14150 Sunfish Lake Boulevard NW. <br />Council granted a conditional use permit to <br />Commercial Asphalt to continue plant operations. <br />Council gave preliminary plat approval for <br />Northfork Highlands Second Addition. The plat consists <br />of 11 lots on the west boundary of the Northfork PUD. <br />Preliminary plat approval was also granted to Northfork <br />Oaks 4t'' Addition. The plat consists of six new lots and <br />the replat of two existing lots in the northeast corner of the <br />Northfork PUD. <br />A grading permit in Northfork Lake Addition <br />was approved. The purpose of the project is to create more <br />attractive, walkout style building sites. <br />Council amended the conditional use permit for <br />Outdoor Recreational Uses for Diamonds Sports Bar. <br />The present uses include softball, volleyball and broom ball. <br />The request is to amend the CUP to also include batting cages, <br />a splat ball course, horseshoe pits, basketball, and roller hockey <br />in the summer and boot hockey in the winter. <br />Life would be so much easier if everyone read the manual. — Anonymous <br />Council reallocated CDBG monies for <br />planning and housing rehabilitation <br />purposes. <br />A contract was awarded for City <br />Well No. 5, proposed to be located <br />approximately 1,000 feet due south of Well <br />No. 4 in the City's western well field located <br />VOICE MAIL AVAILABLE <br />AFTER HOURS AT CITY HALL <br />The City of Ramsey's voice mail system allows <br />residents the opportunity to leave a message at City Hall <br />during non - business hours by calling 427 -1410 before 8:00 <br />a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. If you choose to leave a message, <br />your call will be returned the following business day. This will <br />divide the population more evenly and should make your voting experience a more pleasant one with <br />shorter lines. The above map shows the boundaries and the polling places. There is a more detailed map <br />for view at City Hall. Early this summer, probably June, you will be receiving a card from Anoka County <br />Elections, notifying you of this change in precincts. If any of your information is incorrect on the card, <br />please contact Anoka County Elections. This will prevent you from having to stand in line to get changes <br />made on the day of the election.
