<br />It's Spring;
<br />It's Arbor Day;
<br />Must Be Time to Plant!
<br />This year, 10 local, licensed, and
<br />inspected nurseries will be bring trees,
<br />shrubs, berries, ornamental plantings,
<br />flowers, and vegetables sets for sale.
<br />Shade trees and conifers of various sizes,
<br />both bare root and potted, will also be
<br />available for sale from $5.00 to $100.00.
<br />The shade tree varieties that will be for
<br />sale include Gingko, Hackberry, Linden,
<br />Oak, Maples, Cottonwood, Norway and
<br />White pines, spruce, crabapples, variety
<br />apples, pie and sand cherry trees. Other
<br />plants that will be featured are blueberry
<br />bushes, raspberry canes, strawberries, and
<br />plum trees. Seedlings, potted plants, and
<br />bare root plants will be priced from $5.00
<br />to $50.00.
<br />Green Valley Greenhouse will be
<br />at the Expo again this year with flowers
<br />and hanging baskets; Anoka Ramsey Farm
<br />and Garden will have vegetable plantings.
<br />The Master Gardeners, Ramsey
<br />Shademakers, and students will again be
<br />bagging seedlings in compost for ease of
<br />planting. The Minnesota DNR Forest
<br />Nursery, with Art Widerstrom, our Metro
<br />District Forester, will again be providing
<br />Arbor Day seedlings. Those seedlings will
<br />include Black Walnut, White Pine, White
<br />Spruce, and Norway pine, which is the
<br />state tree of Minnesota.
<br />The local nurseries that will be
<br />participating include Maple Leaf Nursery,
<br />Henke Nursery, Northwind Nursery,
<br />Better Yards and Gardens, Berry Hill
<br />Farms, Green Valley Greenhouse, Savanna
<br />Garden Nursery, Wirz Nursery, Morton's
<br />Nursery, Viking Trees, and Anoka Ramsey
<br />Farm & Garden.
