4
2002 Tax BILL Curs
EFFECT CITY
On June 30, 2001, the State
Legislature passed its 2002 tax bill. For
the City of Ramsey, the bill implemented
significant changes in the amount of aid it
receives. Effective January 1, 2002, the
City will no longer receive Homestead
and Agricultural Credit Aid (best known
as HACA) in the amount of $527,997.
The State Legislature also imposed a
significant reduction in the amount of
Local Government Aid (LGA) that the
City of Ramsey will receive in 2002 by
$93,087. To make up for this aid
shortfall, the State is allowing a special
levy to be placed on the Ramsey
residents 2002 property taxes. In short,
the State's cuts will be made -up by the
City of Ramsey's tax - paying residents.
The added special levy will be
as such:
HACA - $ 527,997
LGA 93,087
Total Levy $ 621,084
The City will also be greatly
affected by the 2002 tax bill in that levy
limits are implemented for 2002 and
2003. This places great restrictions on a
growing city such as Ramsey, in that
additional services and personnel will be
significantly restricted.
LOWER RUM RIVER
WATER MANAGEMENT
ORGANIZATION
The Lower Rum River Water
Management Organization meets on the
third Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m.
in the Committee Room of Anoka City
Hall to discuss storm and surface water
issues affecting Ramsey, Anoka, Andover
and part of Coon Rapids.
