Thanks to Ramsey Residents we were the <br />busiest we have ever been at a Fall Recycling event! The City <br />collected the following items in a four hour time period: <br />9.3 tons (124 units) <br />5.39 tons <br />.2 tons <br />3.6 tons (360 tires) <br />1.39 tons <br />1.1 tons <br />.1 tons (293 bulbs) <br />The City collected a total of 21 tons of solid waste material <br />on April 28, 2001. This is a 53% increase in tonnage from the 2000 <br />Fall Recycle Day. Way to go Ramsey Residents! <br />If you were unable to attend the Fall Recycle Day the City, <br />make plans to attend the City's Spring Recycling day on April 27, <br />2001, from 8:OOam — 12:OOpm at the PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY <br />located at 14100 Jasper Street. <br />The City of Ramsey's Recycling Program also includes <br />curbside pick -up of aluminum cans, newspaper and various plastic <br />products. Ace Solid Waste Inc. is hired by the City to pick up <br />residential recycling every other Monday. Contact ACE Solid Waste <br />to find out when your recycling is picked up. Pick up a FREE <br />recycling bin at City Hall and begin participating in the curbside <br />recycling program. <br />If you have any questions related to the recycling program <br />or recycling day events please contact Megan Wald at (763) 427- <br />1410. <br />CHEERFUL CHUGGERS 4H MEETING <br />In the cafeteria at Ramsey Elementary School the Cheerful <br />Chuggers 4H group met on the 2nd of December. The business <br />meeting took place with discussion on a winter swimming event and <br />caroling at the Ramsey Senior Apartments. Demonstrations were <br />given by Mandy Wirz and Jessica Hanson. Mandy shared a delicious <br />recipe, Orange Julius, and provided samples for all the members to <br />taste. Jessica, with Fancy, her Siberian Husky, demonstrated the <br />steps for teaching your dog how to "weave" by walking around your <br />legs. "It takes a lot of treats!" she commented. Names were drawn <br />for the gift exchange taking place on December 17th and the meeting <br />ended. <br />General Fund Budget Continued <br />from Page 5 <br />Newsletter is responsible for the <br />production of the City newsletter. <br />General Government Budget: <br />2001 Budgeted Expenditures $1,597,449 <br />2002 Budgeted Expenditures $1,717,840 <br />Budgeted Positions 18.85 FTE's <br />Monthly Net Cost <br />For Average Home $7.53 <br />Public Safety <br />Public Safety consists of the following <br />functions: Police Protection, Fire Protection, <br />Building Inspection, Civil Defense, Traffic <br />Engineering, Animal Control and Community <br />Orienting Policing. Descriptions of the major <br />functions follow: <br />Police Protection is responsible for traffic <br />and neighborhood patrol, incident investigation and <br />crime prevention. During 2000, the Police <br />Department responded to over 7,984 calls for <br />service of various types. The Police Department <br />has seventeen full -time officers, a Community <br />Service Officer, Crime Prevention Specialist and <br />three administrative staff. <br />Fire Protection consists of a paid -on call <br />Fire Department.
