<br />LOCKOUT FEES
<br />Beginning January 1, 2002, the Ramsey Police
<br />Department will be charging a service fee of $20.00
<br />for performing vehicle lockouts. The decision to add a
<br />fee for performing this service was made due to the
<br />increase in calls for service in other areas of public
<br />safety. The Police Department receives an average
<br />of over 350 vehicle lockouts per year.
<br />FIREFIGHTERS
<br />WANTED
<br />The City of Ramsey Fire Department is
<br />accepting applications for paid on -call firefighters. The
<br />Fire Department is looking for people at least 18 years
<br />old, who are responsible, enthusiastic, and willing to
<br />serve their community at anytime. The Fire Department
<br />currently has 31 firefighters who respond to a variety
<br />of emergency and non - emergency events related to
<br />fires, hazardous materials, rescue, confined space
<br />rescue, water rescue, and other related events. They
<br />are also responsible for Fire Inspection, Investigation,
<br />Education, and Pre - planning within the community. The
<br />department has two fire stations, one at City Hall and
<br />the other at 15050 Armstrong Blvd. that are staffed
<br />with equipment and ready to serve when called to duty.
<br />After a notice has been placed that you are interested
<br />in learning further about this dedicated position, you
<br />will be notified of an information session that you can
<br />attend to learn all about the duties and responsibilities
<br />of being a firefighter. You will also be able to speak
<br />with the Fire Chief and other firefighters, and see the
<br />equipment that they currently use. If selected, training
<br />and certifications will be paid for by the Fire
<br />Department. No experience is necessary. The City
<br />of Ramsey Fire Department is a respected agency
<br />within the metro area that is dedicated to serving the
<br />community and we hope you choose to become a part

<br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
<br />PUBLIC HEARING
<br />The Ramsey Planning Commission will be holding a public
<br />hearing for several Comprehensive Plan amendments on
<br />Thursday, January 24, 2002, at the Ramsey Fire Station #2,
<br />15050 Armstrong Blvd. An open house will begin at 6:00 p.m.
<br />for residents to discuss with City Staff the proposed
<br />Comprehensive Plan amendments. At 7:00 p.m., the Planning
<br />Commission will open a public hearing to solicit comments about
<br />the proposed amendments. Included in this issue of the Ramsey
<br />Resident is information about the proposed amendments. If you
<br />would like to make comments about the Comprehensive Plan
<br />amendments, but are unable to make the date of the public hearing,
<br />you can forward your comments to Patrick Trudgeon, City of
<br />Ramsey, 15153 Nowthen Blvd., Ramsey, MN 55303 or email

<br />PUBLIC SAFETY AIDE VOLUNTEER
<br />UNIT RECOGNIZED FOR SERVICE
<br />On September 29, 2001, the Ramsey Public Safety Aide
<br />unit celebrated three years of volunteer activity during an
<br />appreciation banquet on a dinner cruise on Lake Minnetonka.
<br />The unit began in September 1998, and has participated
<br />in a variety of valuable programs and services to the community
<br />and police department, including:
<br />National Night Out, Lion's Picnic, Happy Days, Anoka County
<br />Fair, Run, Yell & Tell, Youth First, Teen Night, McGruff Events,
<br />CompuKid (child fingerprinting), car seat clinics, police patrol
<br />and traffic control, aide to other departments for traffic, searches
<br />and scene security.
<br />Two exceptional awards were presented. Don Bishop
<br />was recognized for his dedication to the Run, Yell, and Tell
<br />Program. Don created a puppet show for the program and
<br />presents it annually to the Ramsey PTA.
<br />Tim Burns was recognized for his countless hours of
<br />dedicated service to Ramsey youth, the success of teen night,
<br />and the safety of the children.
<br />In the last three years, the group has logged over 4,252
<br />hours, which averages out to 1417 hours per year - the equivalent
<br />of 177 8 -hour days over the last three years.
