An
early warning system for impeding danger,
the emergency sirens can notify residents of
severe weather conditions, allowing time to
seek shelter.
We are looking for volunteers to
observe the civil defense sirens at many of
our 17 siren locations. Five minutes of your
time each month is all it will take to ensure
your neighborhood has an operating siren.
If you are home on the first Wednesday of
each month at 1:00 p.m. you could assist
us. Please contact Joleen Wiemann at the
Ramsey Police Department at (763) 427-
6812for more information about becoming
an Emergency Siren Observer.
ATTENTION:
MUNICIPAL UTILITY CUSTOMERS
The 2002 Schedule of Rates, Fees and Charges was adopted by
the Ramsey City Council at their regular City Council meeting on December
18, 2001.
Service 2001 Rate
Sewer Rates:
Residential (per quarter)
Commercial (per quarter)
58.07
58.07 + 2.59/1000
Gal. in excess of
20,000 gallons
Water Rates:
Minimum (per quarter) 21.90
Per 1,000 gallons in excess
Of 15,000 gallons 1.46
Curbside Recycling (per quarter)
No Change for 2002 5.34
Priority Street Lighting (per quarter) 1.20
Storm Water Fee (per quarter)
No Change for 2002
Residential
Commercial
6.30
25.20 /REU
ON —SITE SEWAGE
TREATMENT SYSTEMS
Every survival kit should include a sense of humor. — Anonymous
2002 Rate
60.50
58.07 + 2.67/1000
Gal. in excess of
20,000 gallons
22.95
1.53
5.34
1.29
6.30
25.20 /REU
These rates take effect with the first quarter of 2002 and will show
on the billing you should receive in April 2002 (billing services are provided
through Connexus Energy.)
As you may be aware, septic systems do not function forever. A
means to achieve longevity for your system is backflushing and pumping
your tank. This maintenance procedure removes sludge, and allows the
pumping contractor to assess the condition of your septic tank. The State
I.S.T.S. code recommends every three years for residences and the City
of Ramsey has adopted an ordinance requiring that homeowners have
their septic systems inspected and/or pumped/cleaned every three years.
Beginning this spring, approximately one third of the City's
homeowners will receive a postage paid questionnaire as a reminder. The
area subject to this first mailing will be east of Sunfish Lake Boulevard/
Nowthen Boulevard to the Rum River. If you have any questions with this
program you may contact Glyn Huff, Building Official at 763-427-1410.
