COMMUNITY CALENDAR
The City hopes that you are enjoying the Community Calendar and
we appreciate all of the positive comments we have received. This is the
first time the City has attempted a community calendar and it was made
possible through recycling funds the City receives from Anoka County
Commissioners. We would like to bring to your attention an error in the
recycling pick -up dates commencing in July. As you will note the calendar
does not reflect July 1" recycling pick -up date for the east side of the
community. This error impacts the pick -up dates for the remainder of the
year for both sides of the Community.
For your convenience we are enclosing orange recycling labels that
you can affix to your calendars on your scheduled recycling pick -up day.
We hope that this remedy will help eliminate any future confusion as to
when your recycling should be placed on the curb from July Pt tot he
December 31St, 2002.
We apologize for any inconvenience the error in the recycling pick-
up schedule may cause. The projection of the first Community Calendar
was an exciting and interesting challenge for City Staff. We hope that through
the year you will be able to use some of the earth - friendly information
provided to help "preserve our City."
If you have any questions regarding the Community Calendar, please
contact Megan Wald at 763-433-9819.
RAMSEY HAPPY DAYS FESTIVAL
SEPTEMBER 14, 2002
Although September 14, 2002, is months away, the Happy Days
Committee is hard at work. Again this year we will be having a Teen
Dance on Friday, September 13th followed by all day events on Saturday,
September 14th. Again this year we will have a Car Show, Craft Fair,
Children's games, Parade and Street Dance.
We are in the process of finding Sponsors for the following events,
so if you or your company are interested in sponsoring an event, please
contact Ramsey Happy Days Voice Mail at 763-433-9817.
Events that are still available for sponsorship:
Car Show Children's Events
Craft Fair Street Dance
All sponsors will be advertised on all items going to the public
including, posters and announcements. We are also asking that businesses
keep us in mind for the Prize drawing. This event gives back to the community
and is a wonderful form of free advertising.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you all this September.
Ramsey Happy Days Festival Committee
As you grow older; you stand for more and fall for less. — Anonymous
DOG REGULATIONS
5
The Ramsey City Council realizes
that dogs are an important part of the
community in that they provide
companionship, recreation, and protection for
many citizens. The Council realizes that if
not properly treated and controlled, a dog may
become a nuisance and a hazard to persons
and property.
One way the City controls dogs is
through licensing. The City limits two dogs
per residence. Three or more dogs requires
either an administrative kennel license or a
conditional use permit for a kennel license.
Call (612) 427 -1410 and ask for the City
Planner for additional information on a
kennel license. The City Code requires all
dogs to be licensed. Licenses are available,
for a fee, from the City upon proof of rabies
vaccination (required once in every 24 -month
period and prior to the age of six months).
Licenses are for a two -year period.
The City of Ramsey sponsors a pet
clinic, provided vendors are available, in late
April of each year. At that time, dog licenses
are offered at a reduced rate.
An owner or keeper of a dog must
require the dog to be under the control and
in custody of a person of sufficient age to
adequately control the dog at all times while
the dog is off the premises of the owner. The
owner of a dog found running at large is guilty
of a misdemeanor.
Remember to take a scoop along
when walking your dog! Section 5.09.03,
Subd. 19 requires any person who owns or
has custody of a dog to clean up dog
excrement and place it in the proper
receptacle.
To protect citizens, no person may
keep a dog that howls, yelps or barks to the
reasonable annoyance of another person.
The City's Animal Control Officer may
request the person to stop or prevent the
annoyance, and if they refuse to comply, a
citation will be issued. If the officer needs
to stop the annoyance, the dog may be taken
to the Animal Pound. Any dog placed in the
pound may be reclaimed by the owner upon
payment of the impoundment fee, plus
boarding fee.
