<br />10 <br />RAMSEY ELEMENTARY <br />SCHOOL ZONE <br />N OWTHEN BLVD <br />(COUNTY ROAD 5) <br /> <br />F or the safety of our children <br />attending Ramsey Elementary School, <br />reduced speed limits and parl<ing <br />restrictions have been established on <br />NowthenBlvd. <br /> <br />Speed Limits: <br />The speed on Nowthen Blvd <br />in the area of the Ramsey Elementary <br />School is 55 miles per hour except: <br />Between 9:15 - 10:00 a.m. <br />and 4:15 - 5:00 p.m., <br />Monday through Friday, the <br />speed limit is reduced to 35 <br />miles per hour during the <br />school year. During the <br />summer months, this speed <br />limit is enforced when <br />children are present. <br /> <br />Exits: <br />Exiting from the north and <br />south school lots is restricted to a right <br />turn only during 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. and <br />4:00 - 5 :00 p.m. on weel<days. <br /> <br />Parking: <br />Nowthen Blvd is posted as a <br />NO PARKING area on both sides <br />of the street in the area of the Ramsey <br />Elementary School. Please note that <br />this area may be posted as a temporary <br />parl<ing area for special events, at the <br />discretion of the police department. <br />Please drive with extra care <br />in the area of the school. Officers are <br />enforcing these restrictions and are <br />also enforcing crosswall< violations, <br />passing on the shoulder, and basic <br />speed violations. <br /> <br />~ ~. <br /> <br /> <br />SNOWMOBILE ARTICLE CONTINUED FROM PAGE 3 <br /> <br />. On the right-of ways of City streets INSIDE the MUSA area. <br /> <br />WHO CAN OPERATE A SNOWMOBILE? <br />. People who are 18 or older. Effective 1 % 1/1998, persons who were <br />born after December 31, 1976, must possess a snowmobile safety <br />certificate. This is true even if the person is over 18. <br />. A person who is at least 14 but younger than 18 may operate a <br />snowmobile if they have a valid safety certificate IN THEIR <br />POSSESSION. <br />. A person younger than 14 may NOT operate a snowmobile on any <br />street in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />WHAT EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED ON A SNOWMOBILE? <br />. Bral(es to stop and control the movement of the snowobile. <br />. A "dead man throttle". <br />. A headlight of sufficient intensity to reveal people or objects at a <br />distance of 100 feet. <br />. At least one red taillight. <br />. 16 square inches of reflective material in front of the handle bars. <br />. The muffler must be in working order and not modified at all. <br />. If towing people or things you must use a rigid tow bar. <br /> <br />Although a landowner maintains the road right-of-way, they are <br />publicly owned. Therefore, landowners CANNOT place barricades, <br />fences, posts, or other objects, including snow piles, in the right-of-way. <br />If they place such items in the right-of-way they are subject to civil liability <br />in the event these items cause injury or damage to a vehicle. <br />Please contact the Ramsey Police Department for a full copy of the <br />snowmobile ordinances at (763) 427-6812.
