SNOWPLOWING

11

The winter season is fast approaching and we alllmow what that
means - Snowplowing! The Public Worl<s Department is responsible for
clearing all city streets and municipal parlcing lots. This equates to over 300
lane miles of roads. The Public Worl<s Department mal<es every attempt to
avoid damage, but because of the conditions encountered during plowing
and the size of the equipment used, it is sometimes difficult to judge where
the edge of the pavement ends, and where the grass begins.
The City retains an easement on the edge of the road for snow
storage purposes. When sod is damaged due to plowing in this easement it
will be repaired, in the spring, with blacl< dirt and grass seed. Irrigation
systems, landscaping and plant materials placed in the City's easement will
not be repaired and are the responsibility of the homeowner.
Several things can be done to diminish the chance of damage to the
easement near your home.

1) Place wooden lathe every 20 to 30 feet along the boulevard to
marl< the road edge.
2) Pay special attention when stal<ing corners and radiuses, as they
are difficult to judge after a snowfall
3) Checl< the condition of your mailbox. Is the main post rotted? Is
the box itself firmly secured to the post? Mal<e repairs now before
the weather turns cold and the ground is frozen.

If you have any questions about snowplowing, please call Ramsey
Public Worl<s at (612) 427-8254.

A MESSAGE FROM
THE RAMSEY LIONS CLUB

As we enjoy the beautiful Minnesota fall season, the Ramsey Lions
Club is winding down after a very busy summer. Possibly you may have
seen some of the members worlcing the various events we were involved in
around the community. There was the annual Lions Community Picnic the
first Saturday in June, the Fourth of July Fest at Diamonds, Game Fair, the
N owthen Threshing Show and Ramsey Happy Days just to name a few.
Our functions raise funds that are put bacl< into our community. The Ramsey
Lions club is 40 members strong and we have just celebrated our 30th year
of service in September, 2002. I call it service because that is the Lions
motto, "WE SERVE", and I am very proud of that. Our club meets the first
and third Wednesday every month at Holm's Super Bowl in Ramsey. These
are dinner meetings that start at 7: 3 Opm and I encourage anyone interested
in finding out more about all the wonderful things Lions do to attend one of
these meetings. The Ramsey Lions are always lool<ing for new members,
please feel free to contact me at 763-712-8453 or simply come to a meeting.

President Jimmy DuCharme, Ramsey Lions Club

~
DDDD'D DDDDDDDDD

V OICEMAIL AVAILABLE
AT CITY HALL

The City of Ramsey's voice mail
system allows residents the opportunity to
leave a message at City Hall during non-
business hours by calling 427-1410 before
8:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. If you choose
to leave a message, your call will be returned
the following business day.
