4
ILLEGAL
TOBACCO
SALES TO MINORS
Over the last 12 months, the Ramsey Police
Department conducted tobacco compliance checks on
all tobacco retailers in the City of Ramsey. We currently
have a 23% failure rate for illegal tobacco sales to
minors.
All tobacco licensees are required, by
ordinance, to attend a tobacco education session
provided by the police department in order to be eligible
for license renewal. During the session, information is
distributed regarding state and local tobacco laws,
penalties, second -hand smoke, compliance check
procedures, and appropriate training of employees.
We are happy to report that the following
businesses have PASSED all tobacco compliance
checks in the last 12 months. They are: Bills Superette,
Diamonds, Holiday #323 (Xkimo St), Holms Super
Bowl, Hot Stop, Jr's Saloon & Food, Judy's Liquor,
LeTourneaus SuperValu, M & L Country Liquors,
McDuff's, Amoco, Ramsey One Stop, Rum River Wine
& Spirits, Spectator's, SuperAmerica, Vintage Wine
& Spirits and Wiser Choice Liquors. Congratulations
for a very successful year!
Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures. - H. This year's project was to
increase the safety of our states senior citizens. The efforts of the
committee have led to many law enforcement agencies, senior
groups, and community groups partnering together to provide senior
safety information. The 2003 MN NNO Committee's "Project
365" will be "reducing crimes against vehicles, to include auto
theft and theft from auto."
The 2002 NNO celebration was the largest the State of
Minnesota has ever seen. Communities and neighborhoods
throughout the state hosted thousands of block parties and other
events. The residents of Minnesota are commended for their
dedication to this positive commmunity strengthening effort.
