WANTED: FIREFIGHTERS The City of Ramsey currently has several positions available for paid-on-call firefighters. There will be an information session held on Saturday, April 12, 2003, from 9:00 a.m.-II :00 a.m. at Ramsey Fire Station I, located on Armstrong Boulevard. The session will provide information about the Ramsey Fire Department, the role of the paid-on-call firefighter, and provide an opportunity for you to asl< any questions you may have in considering becoming a part of the Ramsey Fire Department. If interested, please contact City Hall at 763-433-9830 to register for the session. Attendance at this information session is an essential part of the application process, however your attendance does not require you to continue in the application process. Spouses/ significant others of the applicant are also encouraged to attend this session. Application pacl<ets will be available at the session for you to complete and return to City Hall no later than May 2nd, 2003. RAMSEY HOUSING COMMITTEE The Economic Development Authority created a sub- committee in November of2002, to address housing issues and concerns in Ramsey. The Ramsey Housing Committee consists of six residents and one ED A liaison; they meet the 3rd Thursday of every month at 3 :30p.m. at City Hall. The following Ramsey residents serve on the committee: . Keith Kiefer is the EDA liaison for the housing committee, he is a long time resident, and an Engineering Consultant. · Susan Anderson is a former City Council member, served on the EDA, and has lived in Ramsey since 1994. · Suzanne Dvorak has lived in Ramsey since 1997 and has been an active resident serving on the Environmental Policy Tasl< Force and citizen group "Ramsey Residents for the Town Center." · Michelle Osterhus is a 10-year Ramsey resident, a Real Estate Agent, and is eager to be participating on a local committee. . Richard Kruger is a former maintenance employee for District # 11, retired Building Official, and has been a Ramsey resident for over 18 years. · Mary Jo Olson is self employed, worl<ing in marl<et analysis and research, and has lived in Ramsey with her family for the past 10 years. . Rick Thompson has been living in Ramsey for 4 years, is a Real Estate Agent, and has been a Construction Project Manager for over 25 years. The Ramsey Housing Committee's mission statement is "To assist with promoting and preserving housing in the City of Ramsey for households of all types and economic levels." After only one meeting, the committee is eager to begin lool<ing at demographic information pertaining to the City of Ramsey's existing housing stocl<, provide recommendations on how to preserve historical sites and lool< at new housing opportunities, and obtain information on housing grants and low interest loan opportunities for first time home buyers. In the next few months, the housing committee will also be reviewing a Residential Housing Maintenance Ordinance. The Ramsey Housing Committee members are excited to be apart of this sub-committee and lool< forward to addressing a variety of important housing issues in the City of Ramsey.
