"!~\\\FoURYEARSINARow!' \ The National Night Out (NNO) results are in - Ramsey placed 23rd in the nation in our population category, which is four ahead of our standing last year! Our program continues to grow and every year we strive to mal(e it fun and interactive for all of our residents. NNO is a perfect evening to get together with your friends, meet the new neighbors and see how the kids are doing. Thank you to everyone who participated in our city-wide celebrations this year! A special thank you goes out to our Ramsey NNO committee, who worked very hard on creating our theme and planning activities! Our focus this year was reducing "Theft from Vehicle" and "Auto Theft." We have seen a dramatic increase in theft from vehicles in the last year. The majority of the crimes are committed in residential areas where residents feel most comfortable. Many valuable items are left in plain view to tempt criminals. Unfortunately, this type of crime can easily result in identity theft if items stolen have personal information on them such as bank statements or other types of mail. Marl( your calendars - NNO 2004 is scheduled for Tuesday, August 3rd. Our 2004 focus will be on implementing a Business Watch Program in the City. Registration materials will be made available in the spring. If you would like to be included on the mailing list, want information on participating in the Ramsey NNO planning committee, or would like more information about NNO, please contact Chandra Kreyer, Crime Prevention Specialist at (763)433-9891 or claeyer@ci.ramsey.mn.us. The City of Ramsey is looking for residents who are interested in participating in the development and governance of their community. There is currently one vacancy on the Parl( and Recreation Commission. The primary objectives of the Park and Recreation Commission are to monitor and reflect the attitudes and concerns of the citizens of Ramsey relative to the parl( system and recreation programs, and to advise the City Council of citizen attitudes and policy matters relevant to the parl( and recreation function in Ramsey. The City needs residents who have an interest in their community and the ability to commit time by attending monthly meetings. This is an excellent way to meet other residents and to contribute in a very meaningful way to your community. For additional information regarding the duties and responsibilities of the Parl( and Recreation Commission, please call the Human Resources Manager at 763-433-9821. In order to be considered for a seat on the Parl( Commission, please submit a letter of interest to the Human Resources Manager at City Hall, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, MN 55303, by November 14,2003. BUSINESS REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE The City of Ramsey recently established an ordinance requiring every business in the City of Ramsey to obtain a Business Registration Certificate (BRC) in order to operate a business in the City. The BRC was established to obtain important information regarding emergency contact, business operation, business owner( s) and building owner( s) information. The Police, Fire, and the Community Development Departments will utilize the information to contact busness owners in case of break-in , fire, or other City related issues. The BRC applications were sent to every business on record at the City in early October. The applications must be filled out and returned to the City by December 1, 2003.
