2 a* SNOWMOBILE SEASON: *~~ '* -~ WHAT You NEED To KNOW. . Earlier this year, the Ramsey City Council considered mal(ing changes to the Recreational Vehicle ordinance which regulates the operation of snowmobiles and other recreational vehicles in the City of Ramsey. The Council did not approve any of the proposed changes to the current Recreational Vehicle ordinance. The following information should help you understand the current city ordinances and state laws that regulate the operation of snowmobiles and other recreational vehicles in the City of Ramsey. WHEN CAN WE SNOWMOBILE? . Between the hours of 8 :00 AM to 11 :00 PM Sunday through Thursday. . Between the hours of 8:00AM Friday to 1:00AM Saturday. . Between the hours of 8 :00 AM Saturday to 1 :00 AM Sunday. . One half-hour after sunset to one half-hour before sunrise you MUST operate your snowmobile in the same direction as traffic flow. WHERE CAN WE SNOWMOBILE? . You can snowmobile on your own property. . On the property of another person if you have IN YOUR POSSESSION written permission of the owner of that land. . On the land of a person who has clearly visible signs allowing snowmobiles. . You can operate on public trails that are designated by the City Council. Ramsey has NONE of these trails in the City limits. . Right-hand portion of roadway in MUSA area. . On lal(es that are subject to the City's jurisdiction. The only lal(e of this type in Ramsey is Emerald Pond. . On the right-of-ways of State Trunl( Highways and County State Aid roads. . On the right-of-ways of City streets in NON-MUSA AREAS. WHERE IS IT ILLEGAL TO SNOWMOBILE? . On someone's land without his or her permission. . City Parks. You may operate on the water of Emerald Pond but NOT in the parl( area. . Railroad right-of-ways. . Golf Courses. . School grounds. . Tree Nurseries or planted areas. . In the median or area between opposing lanes of traffic. . On the right-of ways of City streets INSIDE the MUSA area. Continued on Page 4 2003 FALL RECYCLING DAY REcAP The Fall Recycling Day was a great success with 189 residents in attendance! The weather was a bit chilly but that did not stop the residents of Ramsey from doing their part to help l(eep Ramsey looking clean and beautiful. Staff was busy assisting residents in the collection of the following materials: Appliances 107units Scrap Metal 4.12 tons Aluminum Cans and Newspaper 0.25 tons Tires (passenger and Truck) 339 units Steel Rims 1.07 tons Furniture Donations 0.46 tons Fluorescent Bulbs 21 units TVs 0.38 tons Electronics/Power Supplies 0.68 tons Batteries 0.08 tons Thanl( you to those residents who participated in the Fall Recycle Day and at times may have waited in line for a considerable amount of time. If you were unable to attend the Fall Recycle Day, the City will host a Spring Recycle Day in early May of 2004. Please check in the next few issues of the Ramsey Resident for the exact day, time, and location of our next Recycle Day event. The City of Ramsey's Recycling Program also includes curbside picl(-up of cans, newspaper (including magazines, mail, and phone books), food and beverage glass containers, and various plastic products (plastic bottles with a necl(). ACE Solid Waste Inc. is contracted by the City to pick up residential recycling every other Monday. Please contact ACE Solid Waste at (763) 427-3110 to find out what Monday your curbside recycling is picked up. If you do not have a recycling bin you can pick up a FREE recycling bin at City Hall Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm.
