<br />2 <br /> <br />a* SNOWMOBILE SEASON: *~~ '* <br /> <br />-~ WHAT You NEED To KNOW. . <br /> <br />Earlier this year, the Ramsey City Council considered mal(ing <br />changes to the Recreational Vehicle ordinance which regulates the <br />operation of snowmobiles and other recreational vehicles in the City of <br />Ramsey. The Council did not approve any of the proposed changes to <br />the current Recreational Vehicle ordinance. The following information <br />should help you understand the current city ordinances and state laws <br />that regulate the operation of snowmobiles and other recreational <br />vehicles in the City of Ramsey. <br />WHEN CAN WE SNOWMOBILE? <br />. Between the hours of 8 :00 AM to 11 :00 PM Sunday <br />through Thursday. <br />. Between the hours of 8:00AM Friday to 1:00AM Saturday. <br />. Between the hours of 8 :00 AM Saturday to 1 :00 AM <br />Sunday. <br />. One half-hour after sunset to one half-hour before sunrise <br />you MUST operate your snowmobile in the same direction <br />as traffic flow. <br />WHERE CAN WE SNOWMOBILE? <br />. You can snowmobile on your own property. <br />. On the property of another person if you have IN YOUR <br />POSSESSION written permission of the owner of that <br />land. <br />. On the land of a person who has clearly visible signs <br />allowing snowmobiles. <br />. You can operate on public trails that are designated by the <br />City Council. Ramsey has NONE of these trails in the <br />City limits. <br />. Right-hand portion of roadway in MUSA area. <br />. On lal(es that are subject to the City's jurisdiction. The <br />only lal(e of this type in Ramsey is Emerald Pond. <br />. On the right-of-ways of State Trunl( Highways and County <br />State Aid roads. <br />. On the right-of-ways of City streets in NON-MUSA <br />AREAS. <br /> <br />WHERE IS IT ILLEGAL TO SNOWMOBILE? <br />. On someone's land without his or her permission. <br />. City Parks. You may operate on the water of Emerald <br />Pond but NOT in the parl( area. <br />. Railroad right-of-ways. <br />. Golf Courses. <br />. School grounds. <br />. Tree Nurseries or planted areas. <br />. In the median or area between opposing lanes of traffic. <br />. On the right-of ways of City streets INSIDE the MUSA <br />area. <br /> <br />Continued on Page 4 <br /> <br />2003 FALL RECYCLING <br />DAY REcAP <br /> <br />The Fall Recycling Day was a great <br />success with 189 residents in attendance! The <br />weather was a bit chilly but that did not stop the <br />residents of Ramsey from doing their part to help <br />l(eep Ramsey looking clean and beautiful. Staff <br />was busy assisting residents in the collection of <br />the following materials: <br /> <br />Appliances 107units <br />Scrap Metal 4.12 tons <br />Aluminum Cans and Newspaper 0.25 tons <br />Tires (passenger and Truck) 339 units <br />Steel Rims 1.07 tons <br />Furniture Donations 0.46 tons <br />Fluorescent Bulbs 21 units <br />TVs 0.38 tons <br />Electronics/Power Supplies 0.68 tons <br />Batteries 0.08 tons <br /> <br />Thanl( you to those residents who <br />participated in the Fall Recycle Day and at times <br />may have waited in line for a considerable amount <br />of time. If you were unable to attend the Fall <br />Recycle Day, the City will host a Spring Recycle <br />Day in early May of 2004. Please check in the <br />next few issues of the Ramsey Resident for the <br />exact day, time, and location of our next Recycle <br />Day event. <br />The City of Ramsey's Recycling Program <br />also includes curbside picl(-up of cans, newspaper <br />(including magazines, mail, and phone books), food <br />and beverage glass containers, and various plastic <br />products (plastic bottles with a necl(). ACE Solid <br />Waste Inc. is contracted by the City to pick up <br />residential recycling every other Monday. Please <br />contact ACE Solid Waste at (763) 427-3110 to find <br />out what Monday your curbside recycling is picked <br />up.
