8

WANTED:
MORE RECYCLED PAPER

Think twice about throwing that piece of
paper away because chances are, it could be recycled.
Did you l(now that producers of recycled paper
products cannot get enough paper right now? A study
in 2000 showed that more than 24 percent of
Minnesota's garbage is recyclable paper. About ten
percent is non-recyclable paper (e.g., tissue, waxed
paper, etc.).
Here's a quicl( summary of which types of
paper can be recycled through Ramsey's curbside
recycling program:

These types of paper WILL be accepted:

newspapers and inserts
magazines and catalogs
cardboard boxes
office paper
mixed mail (envelopes, letters, paper inserts)
phone books

These types of paper are NOT accepted:

waxed paper/boxes
tissue paper
paper towels
egg cartons
paper cups/plates
pizza boxes
paper boxes that go into a refrigerator,
freezer, or microwave, including pop
cartons

Over the last decade, the U.S. paper industry
has invested billions of dollars nationwide to upgrade
its equipment or to build new plants to use recycled
paper. This new equipment has the ability to screen
out contaminants like plastic and metal, which is why
you need not worry about removing plastic windows
from envelopes or staples from paper.
The demand for paper has never been greater.
The more paper that is put out curbside for recycling
will lessen the impact on existing natural resources
such as trees and water while at the same time
reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. So
please do your part and recycle any and all acceptable
forms of paper.
For more information on Ramsey's recycling
program, check out the city's website at
www.ci.ramsey.mn.us or contact Chris Anderson at
763-433-9905.

Sun

Mon

Tue Wed

SEPTEMBER 2005

456
Office @
Closed 5:30p.m.
Labor Day CCWS

Fri Sat
2 3

8

9 10

7:00 p.m. BAI
PL

11 12 13 14 15

@ 5:30 p.m. 7:00 a.m. EDA 6:30 p.m. PR
5:30 p.m. CComm @ City Hall @ Elm Crest
Joint PL/CC 7:00 p.m. CC Park

16 17
~~:iiF~~
.;;~.~
'~yt'
23 24

25

26 27 28
tW 5:30 p.m.
~ CComm

7:00 p.m. CC

22

29

30

Sun

Mon

Tue

OCTOBER 2005

Thur

Wed

Fri

Sat

2 3 4 5 6 7 8
@ 7:00 p.m. BAI
6:30 p.m. EPB 5:30 p.m.
@ City Hall CCWS PL
9 10 11 12 13 14 15
@ 5:30 p.m. 7:00 a.m. EDA 6:30 p.m. PR
CComm
7:00 p.m. CC @ City Hall
16 7 20 21 22
@
6:30 p.m. EPB 5:30 p.m. PW
@ City Hall
25 26 27 28 29

CALENDAR CODES

CC - City Council
CComm - Finance Committee
CComm - Personnel Committee
CCWS - Council Work Session
PW - Public Works Committee
W - West side recycling
E - East side recycling
BA - Board of Adjustment
BR - Board of Review

BUD
PSB
01
PL
PR
EDA
EPB
HC

- Budget Public Hearing
- Public Safety Board
- Charter Commission
- Planning Commission
- Park and Recreation Comm.
- Economic Dev.
