It is our desire to maintain
conditions that allow for recreational
burning that many of us have enjoyed
for years. Below are details of the
burning types that are allowed in
Ramsey.

Recreational burning is allowed,
remember these guidelines:
Size of fire is limited to a three
foot diameter.
Hours for recreational burning are
Monday through Friday 6:00 pm-
6:00 am, Saturday and Sunday 12
noon-6:00 am.
Be respectful of neighbors. If the
fire department determines your
fire is producing too much smoke
and causing health or safety issues,
you'll be asked to extinguish the
fire.
The Fire Department suggests a
setbacl( from any building or vehi-
cle of 50 feet. If unable to meet
this, a minimum of 25 feet is
required.
Burning barrels are prohibited
(and have been for many years.)

· Grass and leaves cannot be burned
as a recreational fire!
· Remember recreational fires are
meant for recreation - not
disposal!

Open Burning Permit Process

Disposal of large quantities of
brush, trees, etc., in some cases, can
be done under an open burn permit
process. An application must be
completed and authorized prior to
the burning. A fee is charged for the
permit.

Questions?

Your fire department is glad to
answer any and all questions con-
cerning burning, fire codes,
insurance questions, safe practices,
etc. Please call Fire Station # 1 at
763-427-4452.

www.ci.ramsey.mn.us

5
